The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently reported that India’s solar mission, Aditya L1, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing its fourth Earth-bound maneuver (EBN#4). This maneuver brings the mission one step closer to reaching its intended destination.

Earth-bound Maneuvers: A Step Toward the Sun

Aditya L1 is India’s pioneering space-based mission dedicated to studying the Sun. On Thursday, ISRO announced the successful completion of EBN#4, marking another achievement in this groundbreaking mission. Multiple ground stations, including those in Mauritius, Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR, and Port Blair, tracked the satellite during this operation.

As a result of EBN#4, Aditya L1 has reached a new orbit at approximately 256 km x 121973 km. This maneuver is a critical part of the mission’s journey to achieve the necessary speed for reaching its final destination, the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1).

Next Course of Action for Aditya L1

The upcoming Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) maneuver is slated for approximately 2 am on September 19. This phase represents a pivotal step as it signifies the spacecraft’s departure from Earth. Aditya L1 embarked on its mission on September 2 and is set to undergo a total of five orbit-raising maneuvers to attain the required velocity to reach L1.

The mission for Aditya L1 is one of its kind i.e. to study the Sun from a halo orbit which is positioned around the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point L1. The point is located 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.

Also, the spacecraft is to be maintaining a fixed position relative to the sun. This is to get uninterrupted observations of the solar atmosphere. The L1 point leverages the significance where the gravitational forces of Earth & Sun cancel each other.

Kerala is going against the fourth outbreak of Nipah Virus, the first one being in 2018. There is no vaccine for Nipah virus and it has killed up to 75% of those who were infected.

Further, this outbreak has also led to the creation of containment zones like Covid across the Panchayats. Tracing of contacts has been going on since 2 deaths were reported in the state. Also, 5 more patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals against the Nipah Virus. Healthcare workers are being seen around shifting people who were in contact with infected persons similar to Covid.

About Nipah Virus

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Nipah virus infection as a zoonotic disease. This means it can be transmitted from animals to humans and can also spread through contaminated food or direct person-to-person contact. 

Nipah virus infection can lead to a variety of illnesses in those who are infected, ranging from no apparent symptoms (subclinical) to acute respiratory issues and potentially fatal encephalitis. Additionally, this virus can cause severe illnesses in animals, particularly pigs, leading to substantial economic losses for farmers, as noted by the WHO.

Nipah Virus in Kerala Updates & Actions so far

The following are the actions taken by the authorities along with updates on the same:

  • Containment zones were established within a five-kilometer radius of the homes of two Nipah virus victims who died on August 30 and September 11.
  • Kerala sent 11 samples for testing, which came back negative for the Nipah virus, providing some relief.
  • Samples from 15 high-risk contacts have also been sent for testing.
  • A team of experts from various medical institutions is stationed in Kerala to help manage the Nipah situation.
  • The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) delivered monoclonal antibodies to combat the virus, although their efficacy hasn’t been proven yet.
  • A mobile Biosafety Level-3 (BSL-3) laboratory was sent to test virus samples in the affected district.
  • Kerala plans to take body-fluid samples from all high-risk contacts of the first Nipah victim.
  • Rajasthan is on alert after Nipah cases were reported in Kerala.

The authorities are taking required actions along with healthcare workers working day in and day out to curb the spread of the Nipah Virus. Till then, everyone is requested to cooperate and follow proper precautions.

The WWE CFO & President Frank A. Riddick III are reported to be leaving the company during the end of this month. This news comes immediately within a day of WWE’s merger with the UFC. 

According to a report released by Flightful Select, WWE President Nick Khan issued an internal memo to ferry the CFO’s departure.

Before WWE, Riddick served as CEO of FloWorks International. Previously he held similar positions at LLC, JMC Steel Group, Triangle Pacific Corp, Formica Corporation, Armstrong World Industries Inc, and many more. 

The memo issued by him goes as follows:

“After over thirteen years on our Board of Directors and almost two years after joining WWE full time as our CFO and serving as President/CFO, Frank Riddick will be leaving the company post the TKO close at the end of this month. Frank is a highly respected colleague, and it has been a pleasure to work alongside him. We are grateful for his counsel, support, and dedicated years of service and wish him only continued success moving forward.”

The merger of WWE along with UFC was first announced in April 2023. Finally, after the merger, this new entity is called TKO which is valued at 21.4$ billion. This merger lets WWE own 49% with WWE shareholders, while Endeavor owns 51%. For those wondering about Endevaor, it is the parent company of UFC.

During his PM Modi launched an attack on the opposition party. He referred to the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) as the one without a clear leader. He also called it the INDI alliance. Further, he accused them of dividing the nation and people at a time when India was getting prominence globally.

“At a time when Bharat is emerging as a world leader at global forums, some parties are trying to divide the country and its people. These people came together to form an ‘INDI’ alliance. Some people are calling it a ‘ghamndiya (arrogant) alliance.’ They don’t have a leader yet, and there is a lot of suspense on who would lead them going into the Lok Sabha elections next year. They are working with a hidden agenda, which is to attack India’s culture.”

PM Modi further alleged that during their third meeting, the opposition bloc adopted a resolution aimed at “ending the Sanatana culture” in India. He expressed deep concern that this alliance was determined to undermine the ideologies, cultures, and traditions that have united the country and its people for centuries.

“This INDI-Alliance adopted a resolution to end our ‘Sanatana’ culture. They are bent on destroying the ideologies, cultures, and traditions that have kept the country and our people together for centuries,”

Backdrop of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Remark

The Prime Minister’s sharp critique of the opposition follows recent remarks made by Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. Udhayanidhi Stalin had stated that Sanatana Dharma is incompatible with the concept of social justice and should be “eliminated” rather than opposed. He used the analogy that Sanatana is like malaria and dengue and must be eradicated.
