Tesla has achieved a significant milestone in its Indian operations by delivering its first vehicle in the country, more than a month after opening its inaugural showroom and launching the Model Y electric SUV.

1st Tesla sold in India to this man

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik became Tesla’s first Indian customer, taking delivery of a white Model Y at the Tesla Experience Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The facility was inaugurated on July 15, marking Tesla’s formal entry into the Indian market.

“I am very happy to have received the first Tesla in India. It is a matter of pride for me. I did not get this car at any discount; I bought it by paying the full amount. I plan to use this Tesla to drop my grandson off at school so that more people see it, learn about electric vehicles, and are encouraged to adopt them,” Sarnaik stated during the handover ceremony.

Here’s what family said after buying Tesla:

The minister’s son, Purvesh, expressed excitement about the purchase: “I’m very excited that we bought this Tesla. Like my father said, my son will go to school in it, and he’s thrilled. We will also use it for daily purposes, going to the gym, and other family needs. Electric vehicles are gaining momentum in India, which is a very positive sign. They bring sustainability, zero emissions, and a cleaner environment. We are also planning more charging points so that people can operate these vehicles without any hassle.”

Tesla’s Market Response and Projections in India

Tesla has received 600 bookings since launch, though this figure reportedly falls short of company expectations, according to Bloomberg. The automaker plans to ship 350-500 vehicles to India this year, with the first batch arriving from Shanghai in early September.

Growing EV Market

India’s electric vehicle segment, while representing just 5% of total car sales from April to July 2025, shows impressive growth momentum with 93% increase to 15,500 units during that period.

Model Y Specifications

Tesla offers two India-specific variants: the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) with 60kWh battery starting at Rs 59.89 lakh, and Long Range RWD with 75kWh battery priced at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The RWD provides 500km range while Long Range extends to 622km.

Currently, deliveries are limited to Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced substantial pay increases for frontline childcare workers on Monday, boosting monthly honorariums for Anganwadi workers from Rs 7,000 to Rs 9,000 and raising helpers’ compensation from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500.

Recognizing Critical Healthcare Role in Bihar

The salary enhancement affects approximately 1.14 lakh Anganwadi personnel statewide, acknowledging their essential contribution to maternal and child nutrition programs. CM Nitish Kumar emphasized their vital function in a social media statement.

“The honorarium hike recognises their invaluable service in delivering the benefits of six schemes under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to beneficiaries,” he said, highlighting the workers’ role in improving nutrition and living conditions for children and pregnant women.

Long-term Health Focus

The announcement reflects Bihar’s sustained commitment to maternal and child health since the National Democratic Alliance government assumed office in November 2005. The CM praised Anganwadi centres for successfully implementing health initiatives and expressed confidence that increased compensation will boost worker morale and enhance ICDS service effectiveness.

Broader Healthcare Worker Benefits

The pay raise complements previously announced incentives for other frontline health workers. ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers now receive Rs 3,000 incentives, tripling their previous Rs 1,000 compensation. Mamta workers’ delivery incentives doubled from Rs 300 to Rs 600 per case.

These comprehensive measures aim to strengthen healthcare delivery across Bihar’s rural areas, where these workers serve as crucial links between communities and formal healthcare systems.

Political Support

Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary endorsed the decision, describing it as reflecting the government’s inclusive development philosophy.

“This is a reward and appreciation for those who have contributed to the state’s growth at various levels,” Choudhary stated, emphasizing the chief minister’s sensitivity toward frontline workers’ contributions.

Implementation Timeline

The government has issued necessary guidelines for prompt implementation, ensuring the enhanced honorariums reach beneficiaries without delay. This move strengthens Bihar’s rural healthcare infrastructure while recognizing the dedication of workers who often serve in challenging conditions with limited resources.

The salary increases represent significant investments in human resources critical to achieving public health objectives.

Authorities In Turkey Block Opposition Headquarters In Istanbul

On Sunday, hundreds of police officers surrounded the Istanbul headquarters of Turkey’s main opposition party, intensifying a political standoff that began after a court decision replaced the party’s local leadership. Television broadcasts showed large groups gathering outside the CHP offices in defiance of the heavy security presence.

The CHP, founded by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the secular leader of modern Turkey, has faced mounting legal pressure since its breakthrough in last year’s local elections. The crackdown escalated further in March when Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, the party’s most prominent figure and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s chief rival, was jailed.

Party chairman Ozgur Ozel has described the wave of cases targeting his officials as a government-backed coup attempt, though the justice minister maintains that the judiciary is independent.

Tensions rose earlier this week when a local court annulled the CHP’s Istanbul leadership on grounds of irregularities and appointed a group of trustees led by former lawmaker Gursel Tekin, who was expected to take over on Monday.

The CHP rejected the appointment as illegitimate and announced it would not recognize any trustee leadership. On Sunday evening, Ozel urged supporters to rally in defense of what he called “Ataturk’s home.”

Ozel has warned that the ongoing confrontation could threaten the future of Turkey’s multi-party system. The crisis has also unsettled investors, prompting a sharp decline in Turkish financial markets.

The standoff now moves toward a crucial hearing on September 15 that could remove Ozel and his team from office, deepening political uncertainty. In response, the CHP has scheduled an extraordinary congress for September 21 in an effort to secure Ozel’s position through re-election.

Xi Jinping, Putin to Join BRICS Virtually, While PM Modi Skips Summit

China has confirmed President Xi Jinping will participate in Brazil’s virtual BRICS summit on Monday to address Donald Trump’s escalating trade policies, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will skip the meeting and send India’s foreign minister as his representative.

High-Level Participation

“President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS Leaders’ online summit in Beijing on September 8 and deliver an important speech,” China’s Foreign Ministry announced. Russian President Vladimir Putin will also join the gathering, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed last week, according to Russian news agency Tass.

BRICS Summit Objectives

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva convened the emergency meeting to discuss Trump’s trade tariffs and rally major emerging market leaders in support of multilateralism, Bloomberg News reported, citing sources familiar with the planning.

The expanded BRICS bloc, which includes South Africa and new members from Asia and the Middle East, has increasingly attracted Trump’s criticism. In July, he threatened additional tariffs on countries aligning with the group’s “anti-American policies” and repeatedly criticized BRICS efforts to boost trade in local currencies while bypassing the dollar.

India’s Diplomatic Balance

New Delhi’s cautious approach reflects recent tensions with Washington. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesman for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, confirmed Friday that “PM Modi would not be attending. Instead, the South Asian nation will be represented by its foreign minister.”

India has navigated carefully after Trump softened his tone following weeks of friction over 50% US tariffs on Indian goods.

Recent Diplomatic Activities

The summit occurs during intense diplomatic activity. Xi recently hosted Putin and Modi at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, and welcomed dozens of world leaders including North Korea’s Kim Jong Un to Beijing for a September 3 military parade marking World War II’s 80th anniversary.

About BRICS Meeting Format

Monday’s virtual session, starting 8 AM ET, will last only a couple of hours, according to a Brazilian government official. Speeches will be closed to press, with individual leaders deciding whether to publish remarks. No joint statement will be issued.

The gathering highlights growing tensions between the US and major emerging economies amid escalating trade disputes.

Supreme Court: EC to Accept Aadhaar for Bihar Voter Verification

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Election Commission to include Aadhaar cards as valid identity proof for voter re-verification ahead of Bihar’s upcoming Assembly elections, adding it as the 12th accepted document alongside existing options.

Supreme Court’s Verbal Order On Aadhaar Card

A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued the directive during proceedings on the Election Commission’s ‘special intensive revision’ (SIR) of Bihar’s voter rolls. The court mandated that Aadhaar cards should be accepted “to establish identity of an individual for the purpose of inclusion in, or exclusion from, the electoral roll.”

Addressing Forgery Concerns

Acknowledging the Election Commission’s earlier objections about potential Aadhaar forgery, the court established safeguards. Election officials were empowered to “verify the genuineness of the card,” while clarifying that Aadhaar cannot be used to establish citizenship – only identity verification.

The ruling echoed the court’s July observation that forgery risks, which the EC cited for rejecting other documents, could theoretically affect any of the 11 currently accepted identity proofs.

Political Storm Over Voter Revision

The Supreme Court is hearing multiple petitions challenging the Election Commission’s special intensive revision of Bihar’s electoral rolls, conducted months before the state polls. The opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance, comprising Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal, has mounted fierce resistance to the process.

Opposition parties argue the revision represents “subterfuge to disenfranchise lakhs of men and women from communities that traditionally vote for them.” Congress has escalated accusations further, alleging “collusion to commit voter fraud” between the ruling BJP and Election Commission.

Election Commission’s Defense

The poll panel has consistently defended its SIR process, maintaining it operates “within legal and constitutional mandates” and emphasizing that “the voter re-verification process was carried out in a transparent manner.”

Broader Implications

This Supreme Court intervention comes as Bihar prepares for crucial Assembly elections later this year. The inclusion of Aadhaar as acceptable identity proof could significantly impact voter registration patterns, potentially affecting millions of eligible voters who possess Aadhaar cards but lack other traditional identity documents.

The ruling represents a significant judicial intervention in electoral processes, balancing administrative efficiency with democratic participation rights.

Kajol Expresses Confidence In Being Loved At Any Size And Speaks On Allegations Of Rudeness Towards Paparazzi

0

Kajol has always stood out in Bollywood as someone who is celebrated beyond her looks in an industry that often prioritizes appearance. While many actors are criticized online for their bodies or style, she feels she has largely been spared from such harsh reactions. Reflecting on this, she said she counts herself “one of the lucky ones.”

Kajol On Fans Accepting Her At Every Point In Life

Speaking about the affection she continues to receive from her audience, Kajol told News18, “I’ve fallen down, tripped, fired people, yelled, screamed, cried, gotten pregnant, become fat, become thin, cut my hair basically anything that a person can do. And still I’m loved. The way people look at me is with a lot of love. They’re okay with me. They like me the way I am. That’s why I say that I’m probably one of the lucky ones, who’s loved but not judged as much.”

The actress also commented on being called rude after scolding photographers. She explained, “I actually have got a reputation to protect (laughs)! It’s something that sells for them. Main kisi aur ke pet pe kyun laat maaru? (Why should I kick away someone else’s livelihood?) If you’re making money out of these clips, then go ahead and make money. What else do I say?”

Recently at the trailer launch of The Trial Season 2 Kajol appeared in a fitted short dress. When a photographer zoomed in on her body, she was subjected to body shaming comments online. Defending her, Mini Mathur said, “How dare you zoom in on her body? She doesn’t owe you guys eternal youth. You don’t get to decide how she should look.”

Kajol’s Upcoming Projects

Kajol will soon reprise her role as lawyer Noyonika Sengupta in The Trial Season 2. The series also features Jisshu Sengupta, Alyy Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Kubbra Sait, Gaurav Pandey and Myra Singh and will premiere on September 19 on JioHotstar. Major Blow to Indian Travelers: US Ends Overseas Visa Appointments

US Visa

The US Department of State has implemented sweeping visa rule changes, effective immediately, requiring all non-immigrant visa applicants to schedule interviews exclusively in their country of citizenship or legal residence. The policy eliminates the popular practice of “visa shopping” – applying from third countries with shorter wait times.

US Implements New Visa Rule: Global Implementation

“Effective immediately, the Department of State has updated instructions for non-immigrant visa applicants… (they) should schedule visa interview appointments at the US embassy or consulate in their country of nationality or residence,” the State Department announced Saturday.

Indian Applicants Hit Hardest Amid US’s Decision

The restriction directly impacts thousands of Indians who previously bypassed domestic backlogs by scheduling appointments in Singapore, Thailand, and Germany. This strategic workaround allowed faster access to B1 (business) and B2 (tourism) visas, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when Indian wait times stretched up to three years.

Travel agents report that during peak backlog periods, Indians frequently traveled to Germany for visa interviews. The US Embassy in Frankfurt even reserved slots “specifically for Indian applicants” two years ago when domestic wait times reached 15-20 months.

Limited Exceptions

The new policy permits applications at designated embassies only for nationals from countries where the US doesn’t conduct routine visa operations, including Afghanistan, Cuba, Chad, Russia, and Iran. However, even these applicants must apply where they legally reside.

Worsening Backlog Concerns

Industry observers warn the restriction may exacerbate existing delays. Current visa wait times across India vary dramatically – from 3.5 months in Hyderabad and Mumbai to five months in Kolkata, with Chennai reaching nine months.

Additional Changes

The policy coincides with another significant change implemented September 2: mandatory in-person interviews for most non-immigrant visa categories. The State Department scaled back its Interview Waiver Program (Dropbox), requiring face-to-face meetings for H, L, F, M, J, E, and O visa categories – even for applicants previously exempt, including those over 79 and children under 14.

Strategic Impact

These combined changes represent the most significant tightening of US visa procedures in recent years, potentially forcing thousands of Indian applicants into longer domestic queues. The moves appear designed to streamline processing while ensuring applicants apply through proper channels, though critics worry about increased delays for legitimate travellers.

Bollywood’s beloved musical romance Rangeela marked its 30th anniversary on Monday, September 8, prompting lead actress Urmila Matondkar to share an emotional tribute that reminded fans why the film remains a cinematic treasure.

A Heartfelt Celebration by Urmila Matondkar – ‘Rangeela’

Matondkar commemorated the milestone by posting a video of herself dancing to the film’s signature track “Rangeela Re,” instantly transporting viewers back to 1995. Her accompanying message captured the film’s lasting impact with poetic eloquence.

“It was never just a film. It was, and still is, a feeling…Woven with intense joy, hope, dreams, ambition, beauty, zest, affection, admiration, love and desire, struggle and triumph, sacrifice, and above all, a grand celebration of life,” she wrote, reflecting on the movie’s emotional depth.

The actress described how the film continues to evoke wonder: “Every scene brings back an instant, childlike smile, carrying us into a world of innocence and wonder. Each song is not merely music, but a celebration of the Navrasa -the nine emotions of Indian literature and poetry.”

A Timeless Love Triangle

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma and released September 8, 1995, Rangeela starred Urmila Matondkar alongside Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff in a compelling love triangle. The story followed Mili, an aspiring actress caught between celebrated actor Raj Kamal (Shroff) and her childhood friend Munna (Khan), both vying for her affections.

Musical Masterpiece

The film’s soundtrack, composed by A.R. Rahman, became legendary. Songs like “Kya Kare,” “Tanha Tanha,” “Hai Rama,” “Mangta Hai Kya,” and “Pyaar Yeh Jaane Kaise” remain evergreen hits, defining an entire generation’s musical taste.

Box Office Triumph – Rangeela

Rangeela became 1995’s fourth-highest-grossing film in India, establishing itself as both critical and commercial success. The movie launched Matondkar as a leading lady while showcasing Rahman’s genius to mainstream Bollywood audiences.

Concluding her tribute, Matondkar thanked fans: “Thirty years ago today, ‘Rangeela’ became each one of yours! And I am sure, even today, it has the power to transport you back to that very first moment.”

The anniversary celebration underscores how certain films transcend entertainment, becoming cultural phenomena that continue resonating across generations.
