Bihar: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved two significant infrastructure projects worth ₹7,616 crore for Bihar on Wednesday, as the state prepares for elections later this year.

Union Govt. clears transport projects in Bihar

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced construction of a four-lane greenfield access-controlled highway between Mokama and Munger. The 82.4-kilometer stretch, part of the Buxar–Bhagalpur high-speed corridor, will be built under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) at a capital cost of ₹4,447.38 crore.

The highway will connect key cities including Mokama, Barahiya, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, and Munger, extending to Bhagalpur. This region is developing into a major industrial hub, hosting an ordnance factory in Munger, a locomotive workshop in Jamalpur, and expanding food-processing and warehousing clusters.

Bhagalpur, renowned for its silk industry, is being developed as a textile and logistics hub, while Barahiya is emerging as a food packaging and agro-warehousing center. The highway will enable speeds up to 100 kmph, reducing travel time to just 1.5 hours while supporting faster freight movement.

The project is projected to generate nearly 1.483 million man-days of direct employment and 1.846 million man-days indirectly, with additional jobs expected from increased industrial activity.

Railway Line Doubling Across Three States

The CCEA also approved doubling the Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single railway line stretching 177 kilometers across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The ₹3,169 crore project aims to improve mobility, efficiency, and service reliability on one of the busiest railway sections.

Enhanced capacity will enable Indian Railways to ease congestion, reduce delays, and handle passenger and freight traffic more effectively. The project will improve rail connectivity across five districts and enhance access to pilgrimage destinations including Deoghar (Baba Baidyanath Dham) and Tarapith (Shakti Peeth).

Approximately 441 villages and 2.872 million people, including residents of three aspirational districts—Banka, Godda, and Dumka—will benefit from improved connectivity. The rail line will boost freight capacity by 15 million tonnes annually, carrying coal, cement, fertilizers, bricks, and stones while potentially saving 50 million liters of oil and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 240 million kilograms—equivalent to planting 10 million trees.

Yogi Adityanath Questions Indian Identity of Those ‘Not Proud’ of Ram Mandir

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made controversial remarks Wednesday, suggesting that Indians who don’t feel pride in the Ayodhya Ram temple should have their national identity questioned.

Speaking at a weekly tribute ceremony commemorating the 56th death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath and the 11th death anniversary of Mahant Avaidyanath at Gorakhnath temple, the chief minister delivered pointed statements about national pride and religious identity.

Here’s what UP CM Yogi Adityanath said on Ayodhya Ram Temple:

“Today, who in India would not feel proud seeing the grand temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya? If someone does not, then their being Indian itself is doubtful,” Adityanath declared during the ceremony.

The chief minister connected the temple’s construction to the legacy of the two deceased mahants, claiming they had envisioned removing what he termed “symbols of slavery” and building the grand Ram temple by eliminating the disputed structure that previously occupied the site.

‘Fulfilling Religious Vision’

“Today, that dream of both Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avaidyanath has been fulfilled,” Yogi Adityanath stated, linking the temple’s completion to their spiritual guidance.

Drawing from Sanskrit philosophy, the chief minister emphasized that every individual possesses potential requiring proper direction. He praised both mahants for their societal leadership through “commitment and sacrifice, dedicating their lives to the country and religion.”

Saints and National Identity

Yogi Adityanath elaborated on the role of religious leaders in society, explaining that “a saint regards society as his family and the nation as his clan, with his only identity being Sanatan Dharma.”

He emphasized the power of religious commitment, declaring: “When a true saint takes a vow, its results are bound to be seen,” before adding that “the Ram temple stands as a testimony to the mahants’ determination and struggle.”

The remarks come amid ongoing political discourse about religious identity and nationalism in India. The Ram temple, inaugurated in 2024, was built on the site of the former Babri Masjid, which was demolished in 1992, leading to decades of legal battles and communal tensions.

Adityanath’s comments reflect his administration’s emphasis on Hindu religious identity as central to Indian nationalism.

Bigg Boss 19: From Fiery Feuds to Budding Romance, is Tanya-Amaal Bond Taking Centre?

Bigg Boss 19

Bigg Boss 19, traditionally synonymous with explosive confrontations and dramatic showdowns, appears to be shifting gears into romance territory, thanks to the evolving relationship between contestants Tanya Mittal and Amaal Mallik.

Bigg Boss 19: A Knight in Shining Armor

The latest episode of Bigg Boss 19 showcased a compelling transformation when Tanya’s emotional breakdown moved several housemates, but it was Amaal’s unwavering support that stole the spotlight. Known for his “shrewd, no-nonsense and strong persona,” the music composer surprised fellow contestants by fiercely defending his “good friend” against what he perceived as unfair treatment.

The drama unfolded when Amaal took a stern stand against Kunickaa Sadanand’s personal attack on Tanya. However, his demeanor immediately softened as he gently consoled Tanya, asking her to “relax and not stress when he’s around.” This striking contrast—from fierce protector to gentle comforter—didn’t go unnoticed by viewers or housemates.

Mutual Admissions of Special Bond – Amaal Malik and Tanya Mittal

In a revealing heart-to-heart conversation, both contestants acknowledged their unique connection. Tanya confessed that while she could handle personal attacks, she becomes “disturbed and affected if anybody attacks or says anything wrong to Amaal.”

Amaal reciprocated these sentiments, admitting that only Tanya possessed the power to calm him down among all house residents. “Sirf tu aur Zeishan Bhai max, I listen to,” he revealed, highlighting the exclusive nature of their bond.

Body Language Speaks Volumes

The episode’s most telling moment came when Amaal, after his protective display, took Tanya’s hand and reassured her not to worry while he was present. Tanya’s reluctance to release his hand suggested emotions transcending mere friendship boundaries.

Romance Brewing in Bigg Boss 19?

Their interactions reveal a fascinating dynamic: Amaal’s typically tough exterior melts around Tanya, while she finds unique comfort in his presence. Both contestants seem oblivious to the romantic undertones observers are detecting, but their body language consistently hints at deeper feelings.

As Bigg Boss 19 continues, this potential love story offers a refreshing departure from the show’s usual chaos, proving that even reality TV’s most combative environment can nurture unexpected connections.

France In Crisis As Riots Intensify And Macron’s Future Questioned

Riots and widespread unrest gripped France just a day after President Emmanuel Macron unveiled his choice for the new prime minister. Demonstrators flooded the streets of Paris on Wednesday under the banner of the “Block Everything” movement, intensifying the pressure on Macron to step down.

After removing François Bayrou, Macron appointed his close confidant Sebastien Lecornu as prime minister. At 39, Lecornu becomes the fifth person to hold the post in less than two years, reflecting the country’s ongoing political instability. His first hours in office were immediately overshadowed by protests, which many have described as a “baptism by fire.”

On Wednesday, protesters marched through Paris chanting “Bloquons Tout,” or “Block Everything.” Roads were barricaded, fires were set, and a bus was torched. According to the Interior Ministry, at least 200 people were detained. The unrest also damaged parts of the national railway’s power supply.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau denounced the violence, accusing protesters of deliberately trying to stir “a climate of insurrection.” He confirmed that nearly 80,000 security personnel had been deployed nationwide, including 6,000 in the capital alone.

Footage circulating online showed burning trash piles, overturned dumpsters, and clashes between crowds and police officers.

Since winning re-election in 2022, Macron has faced repeated calls to resign. The latest demonstrations revived that demand. One protester described his decision to appoint Lecornu as “a slap in the face,” while a union representative from the RATP transport network told reporters, “It’s the same problem, Macron is the issue, not his ministers.”

This is not the first time France has been rocked by major unrest. In 2023, violent protests followed the police killing of 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk. The same year, more than a million people marched against the government’s pension reforms. In 2024, farmers staged nationwide strikes over food prices, subsidy cuts, and trade agreements with South America.

Despite the mounting anger, Macron has insisted he will not resign. He also criticized opposition parties, accusing them of being “irresponsible” and motivated by “a hunger for power.”

Nepal’s Gen Z Protests Turn Deadly With Attack On Ex PM Deuba And Wife And Killing Of Khanal’s Spouse

The protests in Nepal, led largely by young people, quickly escalated into violence that left the country shaken. Demonstrators, angry over the blocking of social media platforms, turned their anger on political leaders. Among the most shocking incidents was the assault on five-time prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife Arzu Rana Deuba, who were both seen injured in videos circulated online.

On Monday, Kathmandu was gripped by chaos as police opened fire on the swelling crowds, leaving nineteen people dead. The following day, unrest intensified with government buildings and politicians’ residences set ablaze. Protesters targeted several senior leaders, including former prime minister Jhala Nath Khanal, whose wife Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar died after being trapped inside their burning home.

Former prime minister KP Sharma Oli also faced the fury of the crowds. Hours before his resignation, demonstrators torched his private residence in Balkot and damaged properties linked to President Ram Chandra Poudel, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prithvi Subba Gurung, and Ramesh Lekhak. Eyewitnesses reported widespread arson at the homes and offices of political figures. Alarmed by the spiraling violence, the Nepali Army and security agencies urged both sides to exercise restraint and seek dialogue.

Although the government lifted the social media ban on Tuesday, anger persisted. Many protesters shifted their focus to corruption and the widening gap between political elites and ordinary citizens. Frustration also grew around nepotism, with resentment directed at the privileged lifestyles of politicians’ children compared to the bleak job prospects of most youth.

Nepal’s unemployment crisis has left many young people disillusioned. With nearly one in five unemployed, and over two thousand leaving the country daily in search of work abroad, the unrest has come to symbolize a generation’s deep frustration.

President Poudel appealed for calm and accepted Oli’s resignation, appointing him to head a caretaker government. But uncertainty remains over how much authority he still holds and whether the crisis can be defused.

Punjab Minister Aman Arora Rejects Flood Relief Package Calling It An ‘ To Victims

Punjab minister and state Aam Aadmi Party president Aman Arora on Tuesday strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he described as a “paltry and insulting” relief package of Rs 1,600 crore to a state that has recorded flood damages of more than Rs 20,000 crore.

Arora accused the Prime Minister of mocking the pain of Punjab’s people rather than responding with seriousness. “The Prime Minister came, saw, and offered a pittance,” he remarked. “While our farmers stand amidst the ruins of their lives—their homes, their crops, their livestock washed away—the Centre’s response is not just inadequate, it is a blatant insult. Rs 1600 crore is a slap in the face of every citizen who has lost everything.”

He reminded that the Punjab government under chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had sought immediate release of Rs 60,000 crore that remains stuck with the Centre along with a demand for a Rs 20,000 crore relief package. Arora said the token amount announced mocked the scale of devastation and exposed the Centre’s disregard for the suffering of Punjabis.

The minister underlined that the floods had struck the agriculture sector most severely. Nearly 4.8 lakh acres of farmland were impacted, with paddy taking the worst blow as over 3.71 lakh acres went under water.

Calling for a fairer approach, Arora urged the central government to revisit the damage assessment with urgency and commit to a relief package that reflects both the enormity of the destruction and Punjab’s importance to the country.

An Indian woman has issued an urgent plea for assistance after becoming caught in deadly protests in Nepal that have claimed at least 21 lives, including 19 civilians and three security personnel.

Upasana Gill, who travelled to Nepal for a volleyball tournament, described a harrowing escape when protesters set fire to her hotel in Pokhara and chased her with large sticks.

Stranded Indian Tourists seeks help amid Nepal Gen-Z Protest

“My name is Upasana Gill, and I am sending this video to Praful Garg. I request the Indian embassy to please help us. All those who can help us, please help. I am stranded here in Pokhara, Nepal,” Gill said in a video appeal.

“I had come here to host a volleyball league, and currently, the hotel where I was staying has been burned down. All my luggage, all my belongings, were in my room, and the entire hotel was set on fire. I was in the spa, and people were running behind me with very large sticks, and I barely managed to escape with my life.”

Gill emphasized that protesters were indiscriminately targeting tourists, stating: “They are not sparing tourists here. They don’t care if someone is a tourist. They are setting fires everywhere without thinking, and the situation has become very, very bad here.”

Nationwide Crisis Prompts Military Intervention

The anti-corruption demonstrations, organized by “Gen Z Nepal,” have drawn support from over half of Nepal’s 30 million population under age 30. The protests intensified Tuesday when Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned amid mounting pressure.

Protesters have attacked government buildings, vandalized Parliament, and targeted residences of senior leaders, including President Ramchandra Paudel. The Nepal Army has arrested 27 individuals involved in looting, arson, and violent activities, according to The Himalayan Times.

Nepal Army imposed nationwide curfew

As civilian law enforcement failed to contain the chaos, the Nepal Army imposed a nationwide curfew under the Local Administration Act of 1971, assuming full control of law and order. The curfew remains in effect until at least 6 AM Thursday, with potential extensions based on evolving conditions.

Security forces cited widespread arson, attacks on public property, and administrative failures during the protests as justification for military intervention, highlighting the severity of Nepal’s current political crisis.

E-Visa Applications from India Surge to 82% in 2025, Driven by Digital Travel Convenience

Electronic visa (e-Visa) applications from India have reached 82 percent of total visa requests in 2025, marking a significant increase from 79 percent in 2024, according to a new industry report released Wednesday.

The analysis by Atlys, a digital visa processing platform, reveals how countries worldwide are expanding simplified entry options for Indian travellers, with the UAE, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Egypt leading as top e-visa destinations this year.

This digital transformation reflects a decade-long acceleration as nations recognize the economic benefits of streamlining entry processes to boost tourism revenue from India’s growing travel market.

Convenience Drives Demand

“Indian travellers increasingly value speed and certainty, and e-Visas deliver both. The ability to apply online and receive approvals quickly has made last-minute and short-haul trips far more feasible,” said Mohak Nahta, Founder and CEO of Atlys.

“Countries that have adopted digital visa systems are already seeing the benefits in terms of higher visitor numbers from India,” he added.

The report documents how over 50 countries across five continents now offer e-visas or electronic travel authorizations (eTAs) to Indian passport holders, creating unprecedented travel accessibility.

Emerging Destinations See Dramatic Growth: E-Visa

Sri Lanka experienced the most remarkable surge, with applications increasing nearly seven-fold in 2025 compared to 2024. Georgia recorded a 2.6-fold increase, demonstrating how travellers are exploring beyond traditional destinations through digital channels.

Asian countries dominate e-visa offerings, with Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia providing stays ranging from 14 to 90 days. Vietnam specifically permits 30-day stays through e-visas valid for 90 days.

Africa has dramatically expanded digital access, with Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Morocco enabling stays between 30 and 90 days. European nations including Albania, Moldova, and Russia have implemented online applications for Indian travellers.

The Caribbean and Latin America have also embraced digital entry systems, with Cuba, Suriname, Colombia, and the Bahamas offering comprehensive online processing. Australia and New Zealand continue enhancing Oceania access through streamlined e-visas and eTAs.

This shift represents governments aligning with modern traveller expectations while creating new opportunities for cross-border leisure and business travel from one of the world’s largest outbound tourism markets.

The post immediately captured fans’ hearts, generating an outpouring of affection. One enthusiastic follower commented, “This is really so sweet. Happiest birthday to cutie,” while another added, “Happy Birthday Dua.” A particularly surprised fan wrote, “OMG! It’s already been 1 year?”—echoing many parents’ sentiment about how quickly time flies.

A Diwali Blessing

The couple first introduced their daughter to the world last Diwali, sharing a precious photograph featuring tiny feet dressed in traditional red ethnic wear. Their joint Instagram announcement revealed the meaningful name choice: “Dua Padukone Singh.”

“‘Dua’ : meaning a Prayer. Because She is the Answer to our Prayers. Our hearts are filled with Love & Gratitude. Deepika & Ranveer,” the emotional caption read, perfectly capturing new parent bliss.

OpenAI CEO Praises Apple’s Ultra-Thin iPhone Air Launch, Says This

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has endorsed Apple’s newly announced iPhone Air, marking a rare public endorsement of the tech giant’s latest hardware innovation. Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Altman called it the “first new iPhone upgrade I have really wanted in a while! looks very cool.”

About Apple’s iPhone Air

The iPhone Air represents Apple’s most significant design departure in eight years, addressing longstanding criticism from consumers and industry analysts about incremental improvements in recent iPhone generations. The device measures just 5.6 millimeters thick and weighs 165 grams, making it Apple’s thinnest smartphone to date.

Here’s what Apple CEO said:

Apple CEO Tim Cook opened the launch event by invoking company founder Steve Jobs’ design philosophy: “For us, design goes beyond just how something looks or feels. Design is also how it works.” This reference underscores Apple’s positioning of the iPhone Air as a return to the transformative design principles that defined early Apple products.

Despite its ultra-slim profile, the iPhone Air maintains flagship performance specifications. The device runs on Apple’s A19 Pro processor, identical to the iPhone 17 Pro, coupled with the company’s N1 networking chip and C1X modem. The phone supports only eSIM technology and will be available in four color options: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, and Sky Blue.

Does iPhone17 have triple camera?

However, the device’s slim design comes with trade-offs. Unlike the dual-camera system on the standard iPhone 17 or triple-camera array on Pro models, the iPhone Air features only a single rear camera. Apple has compensated by enhancing the front-facing camera with advanced capabilities.

“The new front camera gives you flexible ways to frame your photos and videos – and so much more. Tap to expand the field of view and rotate from portrait to landscape without moving your iPhone. And when friends join the shot, the field of view expands so you get more friendsies in your selfies,” Apple stated on its website.

Apple executives positioned the iPhone Air as delivering “MacBook Pro levels of compute in an iPhone,” drawing parallels to Steve Jobs’ original MacBook Air introduction 17 years ago. The device’s marketing emphasizes that it’s so “impossibly thin and light that it nearly disappears in your hand.”
