Punjab Cabinet Minister for Industries and Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power, and Local Government, Sanjeev Arora, said that Jogindra Group has unveiled a strategic expansion plan worth ₹1,100 crore, which is expected to significantly strengthen Punjab’s industrial growth and accelerate its shift towards green energy. He noted that this move highlights the rising confidence of industries in the state’s progressive policies and business-friendly environment.

Arora further explained that the investment will include ₹700 crore in the steel sector through Jogindra Castings and Vardhman Adarsh, along with ₹400 crore allocated to renewable energy through Jogindra Green India. He reiterated that this development reflects strong industry trust in Punjab’s supportive ecosystem for businesses.

Speaking about the scale of the expansion, Arora said that Jogindra Group’s turnover is expected to grow from ₹3,000 crore to ₹5,000 crore. He added that the workforce will increase from 1,800 to 3,000 employees, generating substantial employment opportunities. In addition, the group’s renewable energy capacity is set to rise from 37 MW to 120 MW.

He also noted that the group is led by CMD Adarsh Garg along with Directors Sanjay Gupta and Nimit Gupta.

Highlighting the regional significance, Arora said that Mandi Gobindgarh has long been the backbone of Punjab’s steel industry and is now regaining momentum under the Bhagwant Mann government through fresh investments, modernization and a push for cleaner and more efficient production. He described the Jogindra Group’s expansion as a clear indication that Gobindgarh is once again emerging as a key driver of Punjab’s industrial growth.

He added that Punjab continues to establish itself as a preferred destination for manufacturing and green energy investments. According to him, this ₹1,100 crore investment will further strengthen the state’s industrial base, create jobs and support sustainable development.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Arora said that the Bhagwant Mann government remains focused on fostering a supportive environment for industries by ensuring ease of doing business and encouraging environmentally responsible investments across the state.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday that more than 1,150 Indian citizens have exited Iran over the past month, using land routes through Armenia and Azerbaijan amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also confirmed that three Indian nationals were injured in attacks reported in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

Speaking at a media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Indian embassy in Tehran has helped 1,171 citizens, including 818 students, leave Iran via land routes into Armenia and Azerbaijan. He added that these individuals are now returning to India on flights from those neighboring countries.

Jaiswal further detailed that 977 Indians crossed into Armenia, while another 194 entered Azerbaijan.

Official figures indicate that nearly 9,000 Indians, many of them students, were present in Iran when the conflict began after strikes on Iranian targets by Israel and the United States on February 28.

Providing an update on recent incidents, Aseem Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf) in the MEA, said three Indians sustained minor injuries in attacks in Dubai. He noted that all of them are undergoing treatment at local hospitals, with one already discharged.

So far, eight Indian nationals have lost their lives in the ongoing West Asia conflict. Earlier this week, one Indian was killed in Kuwait following an Iranian strike on a power and water desalination facility.

In another incident last week, an Indian citizen was among two people killed in the UAE when debris from intercepted missiles fell onto a street. On March 18, an Indian national was killed in an Iranian strike on Riyadh.

On March 13, a drone attack in Sohar, Oman, claimed the lives of two Indians and injured ten others. Additionally, three Indian sailors have died in earlier attacks on merchant vessels.

Mahajan also confirmed that the mortal remains of two Indian seafarers arrived in India on Wednesday. One of them was killed in an attack on the merchant vessel Safesea Vishnu near Iraq on March 11, while the other died in Kuwait on March 29.

Over the past few weeks, India has intensified its diplomatic outreach to ensure the safety and security of nearly 10 million Indian nationals residing across West Asia.

World’s Biggest IPO? SpaceX Files for Listing, Targets June 2026 Debut

SpaceX, the aerospace and satellite company led by billionaire Elon Musk, has reportedly submitted confidential paperwork for an initial public offering, a move that could result in the largest stock market debut ever recorded.

According to a Bloomberg report published on April 1, 2026, the Texas-based firm is aiming for a valuation exceeding $1.75 trillion. Such a figure would mark a significant shift in how investors view the space industry, signaling its transition from a high-risk frontier to a mainstream financial opportunity.

The IPO plans come after SpaceX’s combined operations with Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI. The merger placed the rocket company’s value at around $1 trillion, while xAI, known for developing the Grok chatbot, was pegged at $250 billion. In a related move last year, Musk also integrated X, previously known as Twitter, into xAI through a share exchange.

Reports suggest that Musk is targeting a listing on the Nasdaq exchange.

If successful, SpaceX could raise upwards of $50 billion, surpassing the $29.4 billion record set by Saudi Aramco in 2019. The development could inject fresh momentum into the relatively quiet US IPO market and potentially encourage other major tech firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic to follow suit.

Market analysts note that investor interest in SpaceX remains extremely strong. Angelo Bochanis of Renaissance Capital told Reuters that while the company’s financials are solid, its valuation will likely depend heavily on investor confidence in Musk’s long-term vision, similar to how Tesla has traded in the past.

Financially, SpaceX is said to have generated approximately $8 billion in profit on revenue of around $15.5 billion last year. This performance is largely driven by its reusable Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets, which have significantly reduced launch costs, along with its Starlink satellite network that delivers steady, high-margin income.

A public listing would also bring increased scrutiny to Musk’s broader business portfolio, which includes Tesla, Neuralink, and The Boring Company. Investors have raised concerns about “key man risk,” questioning whether Musk can effectively oversee multiple large-scale ventures at once.

To retain control, Musk is expected to adopt a dual-class share structure, allowing him to raise public funds without relinquishing significant decision-making power, even if his ownership stake is diluted.

Meanwhile, SpaceX is pursuing regulatory clearance for an ambitious plan to deploy up to one million solar-powered satellites designed to operate as orbital data centers. This initiative would align closely with the computing demands of xAI.

The timing of the IPO also reflects the growing importance of space in global geopolitics. With NASA increasingly depending on private companies for missions to the Moon, and the Pentagon treating space as a strategic domain, SpaceX has positioned itself as a critical player.

By going public, Musk is not only looking to secure funding for future ambitions such as Mars exploration, but also betting that investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence will extend into the space sector as well.

Iran Calls Trump’s Ceasefire Claim ‘False and Baseless’ as Conflict Deepens

Iran on Wednesday dismissed comments made by United States President Donald Trump about a possible ceasefire, firmly denying that any such request had come from Tehran.

A spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry described Trump’s claim as “false and baseless,” according to Iranian state television cited by Reuters. The response came after Trump stated earlier in the day that Iran’s leadership had reached out to him seeking a halt in hostilities. Iranian officials rejected this outright, noting that there has been no change in the country’s leadership.

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump said he would only consider a ceasefire if the Strait of Hormuz remained open and secure. He also issued a warning, saying the United States would continue aggressive action against Iran until those conditions were met.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking in an interview with Al Jazeera aired late Tuesday, indicated that Tehran is prepared to continue the conflict if necessary. He criticized the use of threats and ultimatums, stating that Iran would not accept such language and would not impose any timeline on defending itself.

Separately, Trump suggested that the United States may scale back its involvement in the conflict in the near future, though he left room for targeted military action if required. When asked about a possible end to the war, he said the timeline remained uncertain but added that the US would withdraw relatively soon.

He also asserted that Iran no longer has the capability to develop nuclear weapons, and said the US would only return for limited strikes if the situation demanded it. A day earlier, Trump had indicated that the conflict could potentially conclude within two to three weeks, even in the absence of a formal agreement.

In addition, the US President reiterated his criticism of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, saying he is seriously considering the possibility of withdrawing the United States from the alliance.

At least eight people lost their lives and 12 others were injured in a stampede at the Sheetla Mata Temple in Nalanda, Bihar, on Tuesday. The tragedy occurred as a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple for prayers, with Tuesdays typically witnessing heavy footfall.

The situation turned chaotic when overcrowding led to a sudden rush, causing panic among devotees as they attempted to move out of the area. Two of the victims have been identified as Rita Devi, aged 50, and Rekha Devi, aged 45, both residents of the region.

Those injured were first taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to a larger medical facility for better treatment. Following the incident, authorities cleared the temple premises and shut down both the site and the associated fair.

The Bihar government has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has directed the Patna divisional commissioner and the range inspector general to submit a detailed report. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also announced compensation of ₹6 lakh for the families of those who died.

Senior district officials, including the SDPO, reached the location to assess the situation. The exact cause of the stampede is still under investigation.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic. One devotee, Mamata Devi, said the temple is usually crowded on Tuesdays and many people had come for darshan. She said panic broke out suddenly, leading to the stampede. Another visitor, Reena Rai, said she heard that some people lost consciousness while others were injured, along with reports of deaths.

A local resident, Lalit Kumar, said the crowd was larger than usual due to Mahavir Jayanti coinciding with Tuesday. He claimed that barricades gave way, triggering the stampede, and some people were trampled in the rush. He also alleged that there was inadequate police presence at the site.

Bihar Home Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the affected families. He said the government is providing all necessary assistance and ensuring proper medical care for the injured.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a senior Municipal Corporation of Delhi official in connection with an alleged bribery case linked to the licensing department. The officer, identified as Lt Col Abhishek Kumar Mishra, serves as Deputy Commissioner in Shahdara North.

According to officials, the action followed inputs that Mishra had demanded a bribe of ₹4 lakh. The case was registered after a complaint alleged that accounts officer Divyanshu Gautam had sought the amount from a licence inspector.

Acting on the complaint, the CBI set up a trap and apprehended both officials while they were allegedly accepting the bribe. The agency said preliminary findings indicate that the case may involve wider elements of corruption. Further details are expected to be released later.

In a separate development, a special CBI court in Thane has sentenced a former Income Tax officer to six months of rigorous imprisonment in a 19 year old bribery case. The court also imposed a fine of ₹4,000 on the accused, Deenanath Krishna Puthran, following a trial that extended over 18 years.

Two other individuals named in the case, a chartered accountant and a tax assistant, were acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

The case dates back to 2007, when Puthran was posted as an Income Tax officer in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. A complaint was filed by Samraj Naikar, Managing Director of Shree Laxmi Electricals and Consultants Pvt Ltd, alleging that the officer was demanding ₹40,000 to clear tax related matters concerning him and his wife.

The CBI later conducted an operation on January 3, 2007, during which Puthran was caught accepting ₹20,000 as part of the alleged deal. The investigation also named chartered accountant Jayant Dattatray Adhyapak for alleged involvement, along with tax assistant Prakash Gunaji Nevrekar, who was accused of accepting an additional ₹1,000.

The moment quickly spread across social media, and the singer has now addressed the situation, sharing his side of what happened.

The incident took place on March 28 at Kingdom Klub and Kitchen in Hyderabad. According to videos circulating online, the disruption began when a bottle landed on stage while Arpit was performing. The situation escalated when he identified the individual who allegedly threw it and reacted angrily. He was seen throwing the bottle back, using abusive language, and spitting in the direction of the attendee. He also instructed security to remove the person from the venue.

In the videos, Arpit can be heard confronting the individual and making aggressive remarks, which further intensified the situation. The clip quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions. While some criticised his behaviour as unprofessional, others defended him, arguing that he was provoked.

Responding to the backlash, Arpit later shared a video on YouTube to explain his actions. He clarified that he was not offering an excuse but wanted people to understand his perspective. US Aircraft Involved in Iran War Denied Access to Spanish Airspace

Spain has decided to block its airspace for US aircraft linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran, Defence Minister Margarita Robles said on Monday, reinforcing the country’s firm stance against the military actions led by the United States and Israel in the region.

The move follows an earlier decision by Spain to deny the US access to jointly operated military bases for operations related to the conflict. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has already described the war as illegal, reckless and unjust.

Robles made it clear that the same position extends to the use of Spanish airspace. She said the US military had been informed from the outset that neither Spanish bases nor its airspace would be available for any activities connected to the conflict in Iran.

Spain has emerged as one of the most vocal critics in Europe of US and Israeli actions in the Middle East. Its government has consistently opposed the escalation and called for restraint.

Tensions between Madrid and Washington have also risen after Spain refused access to key military bases in Rota and Morón. In response, US President Donald Trump warned of possible trade consequences.

Sánchez has also been outspoken in criticising Israel’s operations in Gaza. Reiterating Spain’s position, Robles said the country’s stance is clear and described the war in Iran as deeply unlawful and unjust.

India to Get Fourth S-400 Missile System by April-End, Marking Major Defence Boost

India is moving ahead with the induction of its fourth S-400 air defence system, with an Indian Air Force team currently in Russia to carry out inspections. Officials said the system is expected to be delivered by the end of April and will be deployed in the western region, likely in Rajasthan.

The fifth unit is scheduled to be operational by November. This development comes soon after the Defence Acquisition Council cleared the procurement of five additional S-400 systems from Russia, which will take India’s total inventory to 10 units. The original agreement for five systems was signed in 2018 under a government-to-government framework, and officials expect the process for the additional systems to be completed within a year.

India follows a structured defence procurement process that begins with identifying operational needs and preparing a detailed proposal. This is reviewed by the Defence Procurement Board before being placed before the Defence Acquisition Council for approval. Once cleared, negotiations are held with the vendor, followed by financial approvals and final clearance from the Cabinet Committee on Security.

The Indian Air Force has also proposed acquiring the Pantsir short-range air defence system along with the S 400. These systems are designed to counter modern threats such as armed and kamikaze drones. When used together, they can form a layered defence network capable of intercepting a wide range of aerial threats.

The S-400 system has already been deployed in operations. During Operation Sindoor in May 2025, it played a key role in neutralising Pakistani fighter jets, surveillance aircraft, and drones. Reports suggest that after India used the system to strike a target deep inside Pakistan’s Punjab region from a distance of over 300 kilometres, Pakistan shifted several of its operational aircraft to bases further west near Afghanistan and Iran.

In addition, strikes on radar installations in cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, and Pasrur reportedly limited the activity of the Pakistani Air Force during that period, with concerns over India’s S-400 deployments in sectors like Adampur and Bhuj influencing their response.

₹292 Crore Spent on Treating 1.72 Lakh Patients; Maligning the Scheme Is ‘Condemnable’: Dr Balbir Singh

The Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab on Sunday accused the Opposition of deliberately misleading the public about the ₹10 lakh health insurance scheme. The party said isolated cases from hospitals that are not part of the scheme are being used to create a false impression, while its actual impact is being ignored. It pointed out that more than 1.72 lakh patients have already received treatment worth ₹292 crore, adding that such criticism either reflects a lack of understanding or a deliberate attempt to confuse beneficiaries and weaken a major welfare initiative.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh responded to claims made by Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa, who had shared a video of a patient from Amritsar. He clarified that the hospital shown in the video, Shoor Hospital, is not empanelled under the scheme. He said that over 600 private hospitals are part of the programme and benefits are available only at these registered facilities. He called it irresponsible for a Leader of the Opposition to share such content without verifying facts, stating that it misleads people and creates unnecessary panic.

Dr Balbir Singh also explained that hospital participation in such schemes is voluntary and no institution can be forced to join. He said that highlighting cases from non empanelled hospitals as failures of the scheme is incorrect and misrepresents how the system works.

Emphasising the scale of the initiative, he said the scheme has already delivered significant benefits across Punjab. According to him, over 1.72 lakh patients have undergone treatment worth ₹292 crore, including major procedures such as heart surgeries, brain operations, joint replacements and emergency care. He said these figures clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme and criticised attempts to discredit it.

He further called on Partap Singh Bajwa to apologise to the people of Punjab for spreading misinformation and creating confusion about a programme aimed at public welfare.

AAP Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also responded, questioning the understanding of opposition leaders including Sukhbir Singh Badal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Raja Warring. He said it is surprising that leaders who have held senior positions still fail to understand that only empanelled hospitals are authorised to provide treatment under such schemes. He added that their statements either reflect a lack of awareness or an attempt to mislead the public.

Dhaliwal stressed that while there are many hospitals in Punjab, only those approved by the government are authorised under the scheme. He said that instead of guiding people correctly, opposition leaders are spreading confusion and false narratives, which undermines a scheme benefiting lakhs of families.

He also questioned the intent behind such remarks, saying opposition leaders appear more focused on political messaging than public interest. He urged them to verify facts through official sources before making statements, adding that their comments are becoming increasingly irresponsible.

Appealing to the public, Dhaliwal said people should rely only on verified information and not be influenced by misleading claims. He maintained that the ₹10 lakh health insurance scheme is functioning effectively and continues to provide substantial relief to citizens.
