Badminton champion Saina Nehwal has once again spoken about the renewed chatter around her 2021 biographical film Saina, which featured Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. Directed by Amol Gupte, the movie did not perform well commercially but recently returned to discussion online after fans noticed that Parineeti no longer follows Saina on Instagram.

Earlier, Saina had brushed off the issue, saying she was unaware of it and believed the actor had simply moved on after the film. Speaking recently to journalist Vickey Lalwani, she repeated that she has no ill feelings. “I didn’t know that she unfollowed me. Maybe she was focused on work, and once the film was done, she moved on to her next project,” she said.

She also spoke warmly about Parineeti’s commitment to portraying her on screen. Although they did not develop a close personal bond, Saina said she respected the effort the actor put into preparation. “Friendship requires spending a lot of time together, but there wasn’t enough time since the film had to be released quickly. We weren’t meeting every day,” she explained.

Saina added that she personally guided Parineeti through the technical aspects of badminton, including serving, footwork, and strokes. She noted that the actor may have also studied her mannerisms and speaking style to make the performance authentic. “She worked very hard and performed extremely well. I even got emotional watching the film,” she said.

When asked whom she would choose if her life story were filmed again, Saina immediately mentioned Shraddha Kapoor, who had originally been selected for the role but withdrew because of illness. “We are still in touch, and I’ve met her many times. She’s a very sweet girl. She had agreed to do the film but had to opt out due to dengue,” Saina shared.

Despite the revived online speculation, she maintains that both actors approached the project sincerely, with Parineeti ultimately bringing her journey to the screen while Shraddha remains her personal first choice for the role.

Parineeti Chopra, who recently welcomed her first child with husband Raghav Chadha, has not issued any further statement regarding the social media discussion.

Corcoran Group Link Puts Erika Kirk in Focus as Epstein Connections Resurface; ‘Handled His Assets…’

Erika Kirk

Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, previously worked as a real estate agent with the New York City firm The Corcoran Group. A September 2025 USA Today report stated that she was affiliated with the company at the time of Charlie Kirk’s death.

Following his passing, Erika took over leadership of his organization TPUSA and now serves as its Chair and CEO. It remains uncertain whether she is still connected with the Corcoran Group, though the association has resurfaced in public discussion after the Department of Justice released documents tied to the Epstein files.

The Corcoran Group had earlier overseen the sale of several high profile properties owned by Jeffrey Epstein as part of efforts to compensate victims. These transactions were handled by agent Kerry Warwick, who listed and sold Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion and his townhouse in New York City.

Online speculation has since linked Erika Kirk to Epstein because of that connection. However, there is no confirmation that she was with the firm during those property sales. Moreover, neither Erika nor Charlie Kirk appears in the millions of pages released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

Since Charlie Kirk’s death, Erika has drawn widespread attention and has appeared at several major events alongside Donald Trump and members of his administration. With her increased visibility, misinformation about the 37 year old has also circulated widely on social media.

One viral claim alleged she had been removed from Charlie Kirk’s will after he supposedly discovered infidelity, but that rumor originated from a parody account and was false. Another accusation claimed she groomed a 15 year old in 2014 and was amplified by Candace Owens, though no evidence ever surfaced to support it.

Amid the online chatter, Erika Kirk also posted a video showing her mother in a hospital bed while she was unwell.

Bill Gates Steps Back From AI Summit Keynote; Foundation Issues Statement

The Gates Foundation said on Thursday that its chairman Bill Gates will no longer attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026, where he had originally been slated to deliver a keynote address on the fourth day.

In an official statement, the foundation said, “After careful consideration, and to ensure the focus remains on the AI Summit’s key priorities, Mr. Gates will not be delivering his keynote address. The Gates Foundation will be represented by Ankur Vora, President of Africa and India Offices, who will speak later today at the Summit.”

It added, “The Gates Foundation remains fully committed to our work in India to advance our shared health and development goals.”

Earlier in the week, reports had suggested that Gates might skip the summit during his India trip, though the foundation initially denied those claims and maintained that he would speak as scheduled.

Gates had arrived in India recently and visited Andhra Pradesh, where he met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and senior state officials. During the visit, they inaugurated several initiatives backed by the Gates Foundation.

His decision not to attend the summit also comes amid backlash linked to references to him in the newly released Epstein files, a collection of more than three million documents. Some emails attributed to Epstein allege that Gates had approached him to arrange meetings with married women and to obtain medication related to an STI. One message states, “To add insult to the injury, you then implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your penis,”

A spokesperson for Gates has strongly rejected the allegations, saying, “These claims are absolutely absurd and completely false. The only thing these documents demonstrate is Epstein’s frustration that he did not have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to entrap and defame.”

In a move designed to support the business community and streamline commercial processes, the Bhagwant Mann government has decided to set up a Punjab Trade Commission. Punjab Finance, Excise and Taxation, and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the decision reflects the administration’s intent to make governance more efficient and accessible for small traders, shopkeepers and entrepreneurs who form the backbone of the state’s economy.

Explaining the purpose of the new body, Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said, “The key objective of the Commission is to ensure that traders no longer have to run pillar to post for routine approvals, departmental clearances and day-to-day business-related work. For years, small traders and shopkeepers have been forced to waste valuable time moving between multiple offices even for minor issues. This must change, and this government is determined to change it.”

He added, “The Punjab Trade Commission will act as a dedicated platform to save the time, effort and money of the trading community. It will provide a faster and smoother resolution mechanism for their issues, with a structured system, clear accountability and time-bound solutions so that problems are not left hanging indefinitely.”

As part of preparations, consultations and review meetings have already been conducted across several districts including Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Moga, Malerkotla, Patiala, Roopnagar, Sangrur, Barnala and Bathinda. Officials, local administrations and representatives of trade bodies discussed implementation plans and coordination at the district level to ensure the commission functions effectively once established.

Highlighting the importance of the trading sector, the minister said, “Traders and small businesses are the backbone of the state’s economy. Our government is fully committed to building a Punjab where honest business people can focus on expanding their work instead of getting stuck in paperwork, delays and unnecessary harassment.”

Reaffirming the government’s intent, he concluded, “The Punjab Trade Commission will be formed with the spirit of public service, transparency and ease of doing business. Under one platform, traders will receive support, guidance and quick solutions, ensuring that governance works for them, not against them.”

‘Invest in skilling, AI a force-multiplier’: Modi Calls for Skill Investment Amid AI Job Anxiety

As India plays host to the world’s largest artificial intelligence summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the Prime Minister addressed concerns about whether automation could undermine the country’s demographic advantage. In an interview with ANI, he emphasised that the government is already preparing citizens for an AI driven economy through large scale skill development and retraining programmes.

“The Government has launched one of the most ambitious skilling initiatives in the world. We’re not approaching this as a future problem but we’re treating it as a present imperative,” PM Modi said, adding that “preparation is the best antidote to fear.”

Describing artificial intelligence as a transformative tool, he said he sees AI as a “force multiplier” capable of expanding human potential and enabling professionals such as doctors, teachers and lawyers to serve far more people efficiently.

Drawing on historical examples, the Prime Minister noted that technological revolutions have never permanently eliminated work but instead reshaped it, creating new categories of employment. He explained that while certain roles may evolve or disappear, emerging technologies will also generate fresh opportunities and redefine skills required in the workforce. “For centuries, there have been fears that innovation and technological revolutions will eliminate jobs. Yet history teaches us that whenever innovation happens, new opportunities emerge. The same will be true in the age of AI,” he said, expressing confidence in India’s readiness for the transition.

He also pointed to India’s performance in global rankings, stating, “In the Stanford Global AI Vibrancy Index 2025, India ranked 3rd, reflecting strong growth in AI R&D, talent, and economy,” and added that AI will ultimately strengthen the country’s workforce by blending innovation with inclusion.

Baltej Pannu Says Opposition’s Protest Against ‘Village Defense Committees’ Oath Reveals Pro-Drug Thinking

Baltej Pannu, State Media In-Charge of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, strongly criticised opposition leaders for questioning the oath ceremony of Village Defense Committees held in Killi Chahl village of Moga. He said the criticism reflects the unease among opposition parties over the state government’s anti-drug initiatives under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and accused them of raising objections without justification.

Responding to allegations about the use of public funds, Pannu said those making such claims should reflect on their own time in power. He argued that people still remember how narcotics spread during earlier administrations and questioned whether illegal substances were not transported in official vehicles then. According to him, the present government is utilising public money to curb drug abuse and safeguard Punjab’s future rather than shielding traffickers.

He also mocked what he described as the opposition’s anxiety, stating that the Moga gathering was attended only by members of Village Defense Committees and a small number of aware citizens from each village who pledged support. He added that when entire villages join hands under the next phase of the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign, the reaction of opposition parties would be worth watching.

Pannu expressed confidence that the campaign’s second phase will succeed because, in his view, most Punjabis want a state free from drugs. He claimed that only opposition groups stand to lose from such a development, as their politics would suffer once the drug problem is eradicated. He concluded by asserting that the Mann government will act firmly against anyone who endangers the future of Punjab’s youth.

The Aam Aadmi Party received a significant political fillip in Punjab as Sardar Amarjeet Singh Kokri Kalan, formerly the State Financial Secretary of the BJP’s SC Wing, officially joined the party. Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema inducted him into the organisation on behalf of state party chief Aman Arora and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Addressing the gathering, Cheema noted that Amarjeet Singh has long been actively engaged in public life in the Nihal Singh Wala area and said his decision to join AAP reflects increasing confidence among people in the work carried out by the Mann government.

Cheema stated that Amarjeet Singh chose to part ways with the BJP after growing dissatisfied with what he described as its anti-public policies. He said the leader had been particularly influenced by AAP’s governance initiatives in Punjab, including the provision of 300 units of free electricity and the health insurance scheme worth ten lakh rupees, which he said had brought tangible relief to ordinary households. “Today, Punjab has only one party that holds the hand of the common man, stands with him, and delivers on the ground, and that party is the Aam Aadmi Party,” Cheema said.

He added that Amarjeet Singh was accompanied by several supporters such as sarpanches, panches and a nambardar, who also joined AAP under the leadership of Manjeet Singh Bilaspur. Welcoming them, Cheema assured that the new entrants would receive respect and meaningful roles within the party.

Highlighting Amarjeet Singh’s background, the minister said he had earlier served the country in the armed forces and later remained active in social and political work. According to Cheema, the arrival of committed and experienced individuals like him signals that Punjab is steadily moving toward a politics centred on performance, integrity and public welfare.

He further stated that the Mann government has consistently focused on the upliftment of all sections of society, especially Dalits, farmers, labourers, youth and economically weaker groups, and reaffirmed that AAP remains dedicated to ensuring dignity, opportunities and essential facilities for every citizen.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Tarique Rahman and extended his congratulations following the party’s success in Bangladesh’s national elections. He also reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries, highlighting their longstanding historical and cultural connections.

“Delighted to speak with Mr. Tarique Rahman. I congratulated him on the remarkable victory in the Bangladesh elections. I conveyed my best wishes and support in his endeavour to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh,” PM Modi wrote on X.

He further noted, “As two close neighbours with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, I reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of both our peoples.”

The message came after the BNP, led by Rahman, secured a decisive mandate in the 13th National Parliament election. Of the 297 declared seats, the BNP and its allies won 212. The 11-party alliance headed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secured 77 seats, while Islami Andolan Bangladesh claimed one and independent candidates won seven, according to Prothom Alo.

Party-wise figures showed the BNP alone captured 209 seats. Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats, Jatiya Nagorik Party won six, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis took two, and Khelafat Majlis, Bangladesh Jatiya Party-BJP, Gana Sanghati Andolon, and Gana Adhikar Parishad each won one seat.

Earlier, India had said it would wait for the final outcome of the polls before commenting further. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “The election is going on in Bangladesh. We should wait for the outcome of the elections to see as to what sort of mandate has come…and thereafter, we will look at issues that are there. On the election per se, you know what our position has been. We stand for a free, fair, inclusive and credible elections in Bangladesh.”

‘Make deal documents public, show how you are trying to destroy country’: Harpal Singh Cheema Hits Out at BJP

0

Punjab Finance Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government during a press conference at the party office, alleging that a proposed US-India deal is part of a larger plan that could harm Indian agriculture and particularly impact Punjab’s farmers.

He accused the Centre of working against the interests of the farming community, stating, “The BJP-led Central Government has prepared a big scheme and conspiracy to destroy Punjab’s farmers and sell India’s agriculture to the USA through this so-called US-India deal.”

Cheema warned that the entry of low-cost agricultural products from the United States, including milk powder, cheese and grains, could severely affect farmers in Punjab and across India. Raising concerns over the potential consequences, he asked, “Where will Punjab’s farmers go? Where will the country’s farmers go?”

Highlighting Punjab’s long-standing contribution to the nation’s food security, the minister said the state’s farmers have supported India’s food buffer for decades through large-scale wheat and paddy production. He added, “It is shameful that the same annadata who brought a large-scale food revolution in the country is now being targeted through a deep political and economic conspiracy.”

Cheema also criticised the BJP’s nationalist claims, alleging that the party had compromised national interests. According to him, the Centre has surrendered to external pressure and is attempting to make India economically dependent again.

Referring to a social media post by US Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Cheema said the intent behind the agreement was evident. “The US Agriculture Secretary publicly thanked President Trump and openly celebrated the deal, stating that it would export more American farm products into India’s massive market, lift American prices, pump cash into rural America and strengthen the US economy. This is clear evidence that the deal is not being done for Indian farmers, but for American farmers,” he asserted.

The Punjab minister questioned statements made by BJP leaders in the state who have claimed that the agreement would benefit Punjab. Targeting Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar, Cheema said the party had failed to respond to the remarks made by the US Agriculture Secretary. Minister Harpal Singh Cheema asked, “Do you have the courage to quote-tweet this statement and respond to America?”

He further demanded that BJP leaders, including Sunil Jakhar, BJP working president Ashwini Sharma and MP Ravneet Bittu, disclose the details of the agreement to the public. He said, “Show the documents. Make them public. These are the documents through which you are trying to destroy the country.”

Speaking about tariff changes, Cheema claimed that duties on Indian exports to the US, which were earlier around 50 percent, had been reduced to 18 percent, while tariffs on certain imports into India had been brought down to zero. “On the other hand, the tariff on products India will import has been reduced to zero. This clearly shows that the BJP, which works for big corporate houses and is run by big corporate families, is now trying to sell India’s farmers to capitalists, and is doing it through the USA,” he added.

He accused the BJP of favouring corporate interests over ordinary citizens and alleged that the party was governing the country with the support of a select few business families while compromising national interests.

The minister also criticised the BJP’s ideological stance, saying the party did not understand the significance of India’s independence movement. He said, “Not only the current leaders, but even their older leadership had no role in the struggle to free the country. The people from Punjab and many other states, including Bengalis and citizens across different regions, crushed British rule and drove the British out to secure India’s independence.”

Cheema concluded by alleging that the BJP was attempting to hand over the country’s interests to foreign powers and challenged party leaders to an open debate on the issue. “The AAP will expose exactly how the BJP has sold Punjab’s and India’s farmers,” he said.

He also warned that the people of Punjab would resist any move that threatens the livelihood and dignity of farmers, adding that the party would take its message to every village and household in the state.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, scheduled to take place in Mohali from March 13 to 15. The meeting focused on finalising arrangements for the event, which the state government sees as a key initiative to boost industrial expansion and economic growth in Punjab.

During the review, Mann described the summit as an important milestone in strengthening Punjab’s position as a global investment destination. He said the event is expected to generate new opportunities for industrial development and help reshape the state’s economic future by attracting large-scale investments.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of discussions with leading domestic and international companies to develop a comprehensive industry-friendly strategy. He expressed confidence in the entrepreneurial spirit of Punjabis, noting that their determination and work ethic have enabled them to succeed worldwide.

Sharing details about the event, Mann said the summit will be organised under the theme “Punjab Means Business – Policy to Practice.” He noted that the government has already conducted promotional roadshows in cities such as Gurugram, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai, along with international outreach in countries including Japan and South Korea. The summit will feature a range of sessions, including inaugural and valedictory events, country-specific discussions, plenary meetings and sector-focused deliberations.

He highlighted that the event will provide investors with a platform to explore business opportunities in Punjab, supported by a wide range of incentives offered by the state. According to Mann, the response from both Indian and global industry leaders has been encouraging. He also pointed out that while agriculture continues to be important for Punjab, expanding industrial activity is essential to revitalise the state’s economy.

The Chief Minister said the government has introduced several reforms to make Punjab an attractive destination for investors and urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the favourable business environment. He added that the state has already secured investment proposals worth ₹1.5 lakh crore, which are expected to create more than 5.2 lakh jobs.

Mann noted that major companies, including Tata Steel and Sanatan Textiles, have shown interest in investing in the state. He said the summit aims to attract more such investments and strengthen Punjab’s industrial infrastructure.

Highlighting recent policy initiatives, he said the government has introduced green stamp paper in property registrations to streamline approvals for industrial projects. He also emphasised that Punjab offers a supportive industrial climate backed by a skilled workforce capable of meeting industry demands. Referring to energy availability as a key factor for growth, he said the state has taken significant steps to ensure surplus power supply.

Senior officials informed the Chief Minister that several leading companies from India and abroad are expected to participate in the summit and finalise investment plans. The event will include exhibitions, seminars and technical discussions, with special attention given to emerging technologies and future industry trends.

Earlier in the day, Mann unveiled the official logo of the summit. Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
