Apple’s 2024 iPhone lineup could see significant camera upgrades if the latest predictions hold true. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo asserts that both iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will feature a tetraprism telephoto lens, enabling enhanced optical zoom capabilities.

This year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max debuted the tetraprism technology allowing 5x optical zoom. But its smaller Pro counterpart was limited to a 3x zoom telephoto lens. Kuo now foresees Apple bringing the upgraded zoom lens to both Pro models in 2024.
Given Largan’s rising yields on supplying tetraprism components, Kuo predicts the dual adoption could spur over 160% sales growth for next year’s Pro iPhones. This signals Apple’s ambition to further differentiate Pro and non-Pro tiers through marquee features like advanced cameras.
If accurate, it would allow the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max to match the excellent zoom performance of their larger 2023 sibling. while appealing to customers who prefer compact sizes.
Beyond superior optics, both devices are also rumored to flaunt larger displays and exclusive LTPO technology enabling dynamic 120Hz refresh rates. This combination of premium enhancements may compel more users to opt for the superior-specced and predictably higher-priced Pro models.
As rivals like Samsung and Google push smartphone camera innovations, Apple aims to maintain its reputation for imaging excellence. By bringing best-in-class zoom and photographic capabilities across its 2024 Pro lineup, it could entice more professional creators into its ecosystem.
