₹20 Lakh Financial Help and Free Education Announced by Mann Government for Bereaved Teachers’ Children

The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has once again demonstrated its commitment to standing by its employees and their families in times of tragedy. In a compassionate move, the state has announced financial assistance of ₹20 lakh for the family of a teacher couple from Moga who lost their lives in a tragic road accident while heading for election duty. In addition, the government has assured that the complete education of their children will be taken care of, securing their future.

The tragic incident occurred when teacher Jaskaran Singh was taking his wife Kamaljit Kaur to her assigned election duty. Due to dense fog and poor visibility in the Baghapurana area of Moga, their vehicle lost control and plunged into a deep ditch, claiming both their lives. The incident sent shockwaves across Punjab. Responding swiftly, Chief Minister Mann directed immediate relief measures, following which Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan personally visited the bereaved family to express solidarity.

During his visit, Sandhwan reassured the family that the government would fully support the children and ensure they never feel abandoned. He confirmed that all expenses related to their schooling and higher education would be borne by the state so their parents’ aspirations for them are fulfilled. Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, the district administration has already completed the formalities to release ₹10 lakh each for both deceased teachers.

This prompt assistance and the commitment to fund the children’s education reflect more than administrative duty. They highlight the government’s respect for the dedication of teachers who play a vital role in democratic processes such as elections. Chief Minister Mann reiterated that the state deeply values such service and will always honour the sacrifices made by its employees.

Through these actions, the Mann government has reinforced its image as a people-focused administration that prioritises the welfare and dignity of its workforce. The gesture has strengthened confidence among government employees across Punjab that their safety, service, and families will always remain a top concern for the state.
