Jyoti Singh, wife of Bhojpuri actor-politician Pawan Singh, met Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor on Friday at Sheikhpura House in Patna, intensifying speculation about her political ambitions ahead of Bihar assembly polls.
The meeting occurred one day after Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party announced 51 candidates for the 243-seat Bihar assembly elections, scheduled for November 6 and 11. Jyoti Singh is Pawan Singh’s second wife and has previously accused him of infidelity.
Bihar Assembly Polls in Ambitions Dispute
With elections approaching, Jyoti Singh and Pawan Singh have publicly disagreed over who should contest. The actor-politician has alleged his wife is pressuring him to secure her an election ticket.
Jyoti Singh rejected this claim, asserting her independent political work. “I had helped him extensively last time, wearing out my slippers in the area… If I want to contest, I will. I have put in a lot of work, and people know it,” she told NDTV on Tuesday, emphasizing her preparations have nothing to do with Pawan Singh’s electoral plans.
Pawan Singh’s Response
Earlier, Pawan Singh shared a lengthy Hindi statement accusing Jyoti Singh of using him for political advantage. “I know only one thing in my life that the public is God for me. Will I hurt the sentiments of all of you, because of whom I have reached this far? Jyoti Singh ji. Is it not true that when you came to my society yesterday morning, I respectfully invited you to my house and we talked for about 1:30 hours?” he questioned.
Political Background
The BJP dropped Pawan Singh last year due to his controversial image but reinstated him ahead of Bihar elections. Following meetings with senior BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, reports suggest the party may field him from the Arrah assembly seat.
Strategic Implications
Jyoti Singh’s meeting with Prashant Kishor raises questions about potential collaboration with Jan Suraaj Party, which recently entered Bihar politics. The development adds complexity to the electoral landscape as both husband and wife navigate separate political trajectories.
The public dispute between the couple has attracted significant attention, highlighting personal conflicts intersecting with political ambitions in Bihar’s competitive electoral environment.
