Bigg Boss 18: Donkey’s Elimination Marks a Victory for Animal Welfare

Bigg Boss 18: In a significant win for animal rights activists, the donkey named Max, also known as Gadharaj, was the first contestant to be eliminated from the reality show Bigg Boss 18. His removal came after persistent appeals from animal welfare organizations to the show’s producers.

Donkey removed from Bigg Boss 18 show

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India had earlier urged Salman Khan, the host of Bigg Boss, and the show’s makers to exclude the donkey, citing the public distress caused by his presence. The organization argued that using animals as props for entertainment could lead to stress and discomfort for the animals involved.

Here’s what PETA urged Salman Khan, makers:

People For Animals (PFA) also joined the cause, issuing a statement on social media thanking Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, the chairperson of the organization, for her intervention. They expressed their gratitude to the community for their collective efforts in securing the donkey’s release.

What Bigg Boss 18 team responded?

In response to the public outcry, the Bigg Boss team announced the donkey’s elimination, citing the collective efforts of those who supported the cause. The show’s producers acknowledged the importance of compassion and action in making a positive difference.

A part of the letter read, “This would not only prevent stress on the animals and upset viewers but also set a powerful precedent. We also urge you to encourage Advocate Gunaratna Sadavarte, who has reportedly brought Max into the house, to surrender the donkey to PETA India to re-home in a sanctuary with other rescued donkeys. Such a move would surely win Advocate Sadavarte fans.”

Before the donkey’s removal, PETA India had sent a letter to Salman Khan on October 9, requesting him to urge the producers to avoid using animals as props for entertainment. The organization emphasized that such a move would not only prevent stress on the animals but also set a powerful precedent.

The elimination of Max from Bigg Boss 18 marks a significant victory for animal welfare organizations and a step towards a more compassionate and ethical entertainment industry. It serves as a reminder that the public’s voice can be a powerful force for change.
