Mumbai: The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty rebounded after a weak start on Thursday, with benchmarks trading higher in morning deals amid mixed cues.
The Sensex was up 108 points at 65,783, while the Nifty edged 23 points higher to 19,698 at 9:46 am.
In the Sensex pack, NTPC, TCS, HCL Tech, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, and ITC traded in the green. On the flipside, PowerGrid, Bajaj Finance, JSW Steel, Titan, Bajaj Finserv, and Tata Steel faced selling pressure.
TCS rose nearly 1% as it fixed the buyback price at Rs 4,150, a 22% premium over current levels. However, Bajaj Finance slipped 1.5% on the RBI barring it from offering certain digital lending products.
Among sectors, oil & gas and IT indices rose over 0.5% each. Metal and financial stocks faced headwinds.
Broader markets saw buying interest, with BSE midcap and smallcap indices rising up to 0.3% each.
On Wednesday, the Sensex had surged 742 points to end at 65,676, while the Nifty zoomed 232 points to 19,675 amid global recovery. Domestic stocks looked to shrug off early weakness following the upbeat trend.
