Red Fort Blast: Delhi Police have intensified investigation into Monday’s Red Fort blast that killed nine and injured 20, examining extensive CCTV footage and conducting overnight hotel raids that led to detention of four individuals, while 13 suspects face questioning.

Red Fort Blast CCTV Analysis

Police officials confirmed footage from multiple routes—spanning Badarpur Border in South East Delhi to Sunehri Masjid parking near Red Fort, and from Outer Ring Road to Kashmere Gate and the Red Fort stretch—has been thoroughly examined. Nearly 200 police personnel were deployed to trace movements captured on surveillance cameras.

Based on CCTV analysis, approximately 13 individuals have come under suspicion and are being questioned regarding the explosion.

Hotel Search Operations

Delhi Police conducted overnight searches in several hotels across Central Delhi’s Paharganj, Daryaganj, and neighboring localities. Hotel registers were checked to trace recent check-ins and possible incident links. Four individuals reportedly drew suspicion during inspection and have been detained for questioning.

Red Fort Blast Blast Details

The explosion occurred around 6:52 PM Monday near Red Fort Metro Station, involving a Hyundai i20 car with Haryana registration.

Central Suspect Profile

Dr. Umar Mohammad, member of a radical doctors group with links to Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, is at the investigation’s center. Born in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama on February 24, 1989, Umar was a doctor at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad.

He was allegedly a close aide of Adeel Ahmad Rather and Mujammil Shakil, two doctors arrested Monday for involvement in the “white collar” terror module.

Vehicle Movement Timeline

According to CCTV videos and images, Umar drove the car from Badarpur near Faridabad to Delhi. He parked in a lot near Red Fort for over three hours, entering at 3:19 PM and leaving around 6:30 PM. Sources stated Umar did not leave the vehicle during this period.

Investigation Status

The investigation of Red Fort Blast continues under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, with reports suggesting the National Investigation Agency may assume control. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed security agencies are probing all angles.

The case has highlighted what Jammu and Kashmir police describe as a “white collar terror ecosystem” using professional networks for recruitment, funding, and logistics under the guise of charitable causes.

Apple has temporarily suspended development of the second-generation iPhone Air, according to a report by The Information. The company has informed engineers and suppliers that the device has been removed from the production schedule without a new release timeline, marking what the publication describes as a “rare if not unprecedented” decision.

iPhone Air 2 Development Status Remains Uncertain

Sources involved in the project told The Information that Apple has not completely canceled the iPhone Air 2 but has paused its development. Some engineers and manufacturing partners continue working on the device, suggesting the company may be considering a redesign or repositioning before reintroducing it to the product roadmap.

The iPhone Air 2 was originally scheduled to launch next year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple’s anticipated iPhone Fold. Planned features included a larger battery, thinner and lighter construction, vapor chamber cooling system similar to the iPhone 17 Pro, and reportedly a dual-camera setup—a first for the Air model.

Manufacturing Partners Scale Back Production

The current iPhone Air has reportedly underperformed in the market, triggering the delay. Foxconn, Apple’s primary production partner for the device, has reduced manufacturing capacity, shutting down all but one and a half assembly lines and planning to cease production entirely by month’s end. Luxshare, another assembly partner, reportedly stopped production in late October.

Market Demand Falls Short of Expectations

The production slowdown indicates weaker-than-expected demand for the iPhone Air, which Apple positioned as a lighter, more affordable alternative. Industry analysts suggest Apple may have overestimated consumer interest in thinner designs while markets increasingly prioritize performance, battery life, and camera capabilities over weight and size.

Apple Future Lineup Plans

Apple’s 2026 iPhone lineup is expected to feature the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable iPhone. The standard iPhone 18 and entry-level iPhone 18e are reportedly scheduled for early 2027.

One source indicated Apple could revive the iPhone Air 2 in spring 2027, potentially launching alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. If realized, the device may return as a reimagined product better aligned with Apple’s evolving product strategy.

Red Fort Blast: What is ANFO that was Used in Explosion?

Red Fort Blast: Investigators believe Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) and detonators were used in the high-intensity blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed nine people and injured over 20 others. Preliminary investigation has detected traces of ammonium nitrate near the blast site, though forensic reports will confirm the exact explosive composition.

Suspect Linked to Busted Terror Module

The attack is believed to have been carried out by Dr. Mohammad Umar, a member of a Faridabad-based terror module dismantled last week. Sources told India Today that Dr. Umar was alone in a Hyundai i20 car when it exploded, and had planned the attack with two associates.

Sources indicate Dr. Umar panicked following the arrest of his associate, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, after authorities recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition, including 2,500 kilograms of IED-making material, from Faridabad, Haryana. The blast occurred around 7 pm near the Red Fort, with such intensity that it shattered windows of vehicles parked several meters away.

Understanding ANFO as an Explosive

ANFO is a highly combustible mixture commonly used in industrial explosives for mining, quarrying, and construction. The compound consists of approximately 94% porous prilled ammonium nitrate serving as an oxidizing agent, and about 6% fuel oil acting as fuel for the reaction.

Terrorists favour ANFO for improvised explosive devices due to its low cost and high stability. The material requires a primer or booster charge for detonation, as it cannot be triggered by standard blasting caps alone. ANFO gained notoriety in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing in the United States.

Faridabad Module Busted Before Attack

The attack occurred one day after Jammu and Kashmir police, coordinating with other agencies, busted the Faridabad terror module involving Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The raid at Dr. Shakeel’s rented premises in Fatehpur Taga village yielded 360 kg of highly inflammable material, suspected ammonium nitrate, along with chemicals and reagents.

Dr. Shakeel, from Pulwama in J&K, worked at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University and Hospital. Authorities traced him through another doctor, Adeel Rather from Kulgam district, who was arrested from a hospital in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Indian Foods Can Replicate Mediterranean Diet Benefits Through Simple Ingredient Swaps

The Mediterranean diet, renowned for its health benefits including reduced heart disease risk, lower type-2 diabetes incidence, and improved longevity, relies on olive oil, vegetables, fish, whole grains, nuts, and moderate dairy consumption. However, Indian cuisine offers comparable alternatives that can deliver similar health benefits without requiring imported ingredients.

India’s traditional pantry—featuring mustard oil, millets, dal, homemade curd, nuts, spices, and oily fish—provides the foundation for a locally adapted heart-healthy eating pattern when consumed appropriately.

9 Strategic Ingredient Substitutions of Mediterranean Diet

  • Oils and Fats: Cold-pressed mustard oil serves as an effective substitute for olive oil, offering monounsaturated fats and ALA (a plant-based omega-3). Indian studies demonstrate its positive impact on heart-health markers when used for sautéing or tempering rather than deep-frying.
  • Seasonings: Indian spices including turmeric, garlic, coriander, and cumin provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties similar to Mediterranean herbs. Research supports their heart-friendly actions when added liberally to dals and vegetables.
  • Grains: Millets such as bajra, jowar, and ragi offer low glycemic index alternatives to Mediterranean whole grains. These fiber-rich options are linked to improved blood-sugar control and cardiovascular health markers.
  • Protein Sources: Indian dals and pulses function as exact equivalents to Mediterranean beans, providing protein, fiber, and heart-friendly nutrients. Regular pulse consumption associates with better cardiometabolic health outcomes.
  • Fermented Dairy: Homemade curd, lassi, and buttermilk deliver probiotic and nutrient benefits comparable to Greek yogurt, supporting gut and metabolic health at lower cost.
  • Fish and Omega-3s: Indian mackerel, sardines, and rohu provide EPA and DHA for non-vegetarians. Plant-based options include flaxseeds and walnuts, which contain ALA as a precursor to EPA and DHA.

Core Principles Remain Universal

The fundamental approach involves eating plant-forward meals, choosing healthy fats, incorporating whole grains and pulses, consuming fermented dairy, and flavoring food with antioxidant-rich ingredients like turmeric, garlic, and coriander.

Indian kitchens already contain necessary components for heart-healthy eating patterns. Mindful ingredient swaps and appropriate portion control can produce significant health improvements without adopting foreign dietary patterns wholesale.

Samrat Rana, a 20-year-old shooter from Karnal, made history at the ISSF World Championships in Cairo on Monday by becoming India’s first world champion in an Olympic pistol discipline. His victory in the men’s 10m air pistol event also secured India the team gold medal, reinforcing the nation’s rising prominence in international shooting.

Narrow Victory in Tense Final

Samrat Rana demonstrated composure under pressure, posting a winning score of 243.7 to narrowly defeat China’s Hu Kai, who finished with 243.3. “I still can’t believe it,” Rana said after his victory. “Cairo has always been special for me. I won two medals here at the Junior World Championships in 2022. I like the ambience and was just trying to focus on my technique with every shot towards the end.”

The final witnessed frequent lead changes among Rana, Hu Kai, and fellow Indian shooter Varun Tomar. Rana’s composure in the closing stages proved decisive, while Tomar claimed bronze with 221.7 points, marking the first time two Indian shooters shared a World Championships podium in the same event.

Team Gold Highlights Indian Depth

India secured team gold through the combined efforts of Samrat Rana (586), Tomar (586), and Shravan Kumar (582), totaling 1754 points. Italy finished second, with Germany taking bronze. Shravan placed 12th individually, demonstrating depth in India’s pistol shooting program.

The victory held special significance for Rana after missing qualification for the ISSF World Cup Final in Ningbo earlier this year. “I just kept reminding myself to stay calm and trust my process,” he explained. “It feels unreal to finally see it all come together.”

Family Support Drives Success

Guided by his father since 2018, Samrat Rana has steadily progressed through the ranks after winning World University gold last year. His achievement establishes him as a top Olympic prospect for India.

Tomar’s father, Vishesh, a teacher in Benoli village, Baghpat, expressed pride in his son’s accomplishment. “I am overjoyed with Varun’s performance,” he said, noting that Olympic shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, Varun’s cousin, influenced his career. “Varun is now training at the National Centre of Excellence at the Karni Singh Ranges in Delhi. He has worked tirelessly for this moment.”

Rana’s gold elevated India to third place in overall medal standings, trailing only China.

A powerful explosion rocked a parked car near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening, killing at least eight people and injuring 24 others. The blast triggered panic in the area and prompted authorities to send seven fire tenders to the scene. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, officials said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were briefed on the situation soon after the incident, and a high alert has been issued across the city. The entire area surrounding the Red Fort Metro Station has been cordoned off. “As of now, I can’t tell you anything. Investigation is being done,” a Delhi Police official told ANI.

According to the fire department, the explosion occurred in a slow-moving vehicle that had stopped at a red light. The impact caused nearby vehicles to catch fire and sustain damage. “A call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage. A total of seven fire tenders have reached the spot. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the spot. Further details awaited,” ANI reported citing officials.

Sources confirmed that Prime Minister Modi has taken stock of the situation and is being updated by Home Minister Amit Shah, who immediately contacted the Delhi Police Commissioner. Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the National Security Guard (NSG), and the forensic department were rushed to the site. Shah has also been in constant contact with the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to assess developments.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said the explosion took place at around 6:52 pm. “Today at around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA, are here,” he told reporters. “Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. The situation is being monitored. The home minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time,” he added.

In response to the incident, a high alert has been sounded in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. “All security agencies have also been alerted. Police in all districts of Uttar Pradesh have been put on alert. An order was issued from Lucknow to increase patrols and checks in sensitive areas,” ANI quoted Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash as saying.

Security agencies are now investigating the nature of the blast and whether any explosive materials were used. Forensic teams are collecting samples from the site, while authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the vehicle’s origin and identify those responsible.

2,563 Kg of Bomb-Making Ammonium Nitrate Found at J&K Doctor’s Rented House in Faridabad

Faridabad

Police on Monday recovered nearly 2,563 kilograms of ammonium nitrate from a house in Fatehpur Taga village in Faridabad and detained the house owner for questioning.

The discovery followed the seizure of 360 kilograms of explosives and several weapons a day earlier from a rented home in Dhauj village. That house was occupied by Dr. Muzammil Shakil, a 35-year-old physician from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who was teaching at Al-Falah Medical College, according to officials.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya said that Dr. Shakil had rented the Fatehpur Taga property from a local imam around eight months ago. “We have identified two properties rented by the accused. The ammonium nitrate was recovered from the cleric’s residence. Maulana Istaq is being questioned, but it’s too early to share additional details,” Dahiya said.

Residents of the area said police teams arrived at the mosque early Monday morning and detained Istaq. “The police have taken Imam Sahib. He has been here for 20 years,” his wife said, adding that his phone had also been confiscated.

Officers familiar with the case said the ammonium nitrate shipment had reached Dr. Shakil around 15 days before his arrest and was meant to be used for assembling improvised explosive devices as part of a larger terror plan.

Investigators are also examining the involvement of a woman doctor known to Dr. Shakil. She is currently being questioned in Jammu and Kashmir after police found an AK Krinkov rifle, three magazines, a pistol with live rounds, and two empty cartridges in a vehicle registered in her name.

Faridabad Police have declined to provide more information, saying multiple agencies are jointly handling the investigation. “Sharing details now could interfere with the ongoing probe,” one officer said.

Chirag Paswan Reaffirms Loyalty to PM Modi Amid Bihar Elections

Chirag Paswan
Chirag Paswan

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday declared his unwavering allegiance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating he is “inseparable” from him and dismissing any possibility of joining the opposition after the Bihar elections.

“I do speak with Priyanka ji, and I want to emphasise again that as long as my Prime Minister is there, I am absolutely not going anywhere. My dedication and my love remain. I love him a bit too much,” Paswan told ANI when asked about potential overtures from Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi.

Father’s Political Legacy Influences Stance

Chirag Paswan invoked his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s political legacy, noting he was often called a “mausam vaigyanik” (weatherman) for his ability to predict political outcomes. He emphasized that alliances his father joined typically came to power, but stressed the family never engaged in post-poll arrangements.

“My leader and my party have never entered into a post-poll alliance, no matter how many people called him a ‘weatherman.’ Whichever alliance he chose to go with always came to power,” Chirag Paswan explained.

He recalled how Ram Vilas Paswan formed the LJP in 2000 within the NDA, departed in 2002 following the Godhra riots, and joined the UPA in 2004. “At that time, no one believed that the UPA would form the government the slogan ‘India Shining, India Shining’ was everywhere,” he said, describing his father’s shift as a “good omen.”

Party History and Current Alliance

The LJP rejoined the NDA in 2014 and, after splitting into two factions following Ram Vilas Paswan’s 2020 death, Chirag’s faction returned to the alliance ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, winning all five contested seats in Bihar.

“No matter how many MLAs we have, whether the government is formed or not, I am right here,” Paswan affirmed, expressing confidence in the NDA forming a strong government in Bihar.

The second phase of Bihar’s assembly elections will determine the fate of 12 cabinet ministers, with results scheduled for November 14.

PM Modi Takes Dig at Rahul Gandhi’s Fishing Trip, Attacks Opposition in Bihar Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a pointed attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Sitamarhi on Saturday, referencing Gandhi’s recent fishing expedition during the Bihar campaign.

“Even big leaders are coming here to see the fish. They are diving into the water, practising drowning in Bihar’s elections,” PM Modi said.

Gandhi’s Campaign Break Draws Political Attention

Days earlier, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha had taken a fishing break in Begusarai following a political rally. Gandhi, accompanied by other leaders, traveled by boat to a pond’s center before jumping into the water. Local fishermen gathered in large numbers, with some wading into waist-deep water to join the political delegation.

Congress shared video footage of the event, stating that Gandhi discussed with fishermen the “challenges and struggles they face in their work.”

PM Modi Targets RJD-Led Opposition Alliance

During multiple rallies across Bihar on Saturday, Modi intensified his criticism of the RJD-led opposition, alleging attempts to transform the state’s youth into hooligans and gangsters. He claimed voters feared the INDIA bloc would resort to intimidation tactics if elected.

“I shudder to hear that the RJD, in its campaign, is encouraging children to say that they aspire to become rangdaar (street bully) when they grow up. Bihar certainly does not want a government characterized by katta, kushasan (misgovernance), kroorta (cruelty), and corruption,” PM Modi stated.

NDA’s Development Agenda Highlighted

The Prime Minister contrasted the opposition’s approach with the NDA’s focus on entrepreneurship, education, and sports development. “Wherever I go, the prevailing sentiment is clear – Bihar does not want a kata government; it wants an NDA government once again,” he added.

PM Modi has conducted over a dozen rallies since the election announcement, maintaining an aggressive campaign schedule.

Election Timeline

The second and final phase of Bihar’s assembly elections is scheduled for November 11, with vote counting set for November 14. The outcome will determine the political direction of one of India’s most populous states for the coming term.
