Composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar reworked the traditional 50-year-old Iranian Bandari folk tune into a contemporary dance mix for Bobby’s character Abrar’s entry in the film.

Originally performed by the Iranian group Khatereh, the song’s lyrics translate to “Oh my love, don’t play with my heart; You are leaving, starting a new journey; And I’m going crazy”.

The inclusion of a children’s chorus adds a lively spirit to the blended voices singing the catchy tune that has sparked a reel trend on social media.

Ever since the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial was released, fans have been searching high and low for the song that marks villain Bobby’s power-packed entry in ‘Animal’.

The full 3-minute song retains the original classical Iranian composition while modernizing it for the Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer that continues to break box office records.

Bobby’s Abrar dances with full gusto to the song in the film, encapsulating the character’s colorful and carefree persona before events take a dark, violent turn after.

Kohli, Tendulkar Among 8K Invitees For Ram Temple Ceremony

Over 8,000 dignitaries including Indian cricket icons Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar have been invited for the grand ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony marking the consecration of the Ram Mandir’s main deity on January 22.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust aims to make the event historic, for which invites have gone out to celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Ratan Tata besides around 6,000 religious leaders.

Separate teams have been formed to coordinate logistics for the VVIP guests, including their accommodation and security, sources in the trust said.

Families of nearly 50 ‘karsevaks’ who attained martyrdom during the 1990 police firing on those demonstrating for the temple have also been invited to the emotional event.

“We can never forget the sacrifice of our karsevaks who gave their lives for the Ram Mandir. Their families will be hosted with utmost care,” a VHP leader said.

The temple trust is leaving no stone unturned to make Prime Minister Modi’s inauguration of Ram Lalla’s sanctum sanctorum a befitting and memorable moment.

The invitation is a barcode-enabled digital pass that will grant access to the venue on January 22 when a new chapter opens for India’s most divisive land dispute.

As per early estimates, the film minted Rs 38.25 crore on Tuesday, propelling the total domestic collections to Rs 283.74 crore so far. The lifetime total is expected to surpass Ranbir’s previous highest grosser ‘Sanju’.

Globally too, ‘Animal’ raced past Rs 400 crore in the same period, establishing Ranbir as a dependable box office force.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ recorded steady Tuesday collections of Rs 3.5 crore, taking its 5-day total to Rs 33.55 crore.

The biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw witnessed over 20% Hindi occupancy on Tuesday, with positive word-of-mouth aiding its run despite competition from the Ranbir juggernaut.

Experts feel ‘Sam Bahadur’ may continue its steady pace thanks to its patriotic storyline and Vicky’s gripping performance.

But ‘Animal’, despite criticism over its problematic premise, remains the first choice for hardcore mass entertainers thanks to leading man Ranbir Kapoor’s formidable star power.

Delhi Police On High Alert After Khalistani Leader's Threat To Attack Parliament

Security has been tightened in the national capital after banned Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice’s Gurpatwant Pannun released a video threatening to “shake foundations” of Parliament on December 13.

The Delhi Police have gone on high alert, with heavy security deployment across the city, though Parliament’s winter session is already underway with extra forces.

In the aggressive video on social media, Pannun declares “Delhi will become Khalistan” while contending the Modi government recently plotted to assassinate him. He calls on Kashmiri youth to join his ideological, often violent cause.

December 13 signifies the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament. Pannun has hence chosen the symbolic date to apparently “respond” through violent means for the alleged bid on his life.

Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi slammed US authorities for not acting against Pannun who continues instigating anti-India activities on American soil despite legal provisions.

India has already set up an inquiry committee to probe the US’ allegations of an Indian official planning to kill Pannun while on American soil.

Police reiterated that nobody would be allowed to disturb law and order in the national capital. But the open threats have created tension as the Parliament’s winter session continues till December 22.

Sensex Hits Record 69,500, Nifty Tops 20,900 Despite Mixed Global Cues

Indian shares continued their record-setting spree for the fourth straight session on Wednesday, with the BSE Sensex rising over 200 points to breach the 69,500 mark and NSE Nifty reclaiming 20,900 levels.

Sectorally, Nifty Media and Oil & Gas led with increases of 1.90 percent and 1.15 percent respectively. Nifty Realty, Private Bank, and Bank, followed by Auto and Financial Services emerged as the losers in morning trade. ( Image Source: Getty )

However, markets trimmed some initial gains as investors booked profits in banking, realty, and auto counters. ITC, Wipro, Nestle, and Asian Paints bucked the trend to trade higher on the 30-share index.

Broader indices outshone benchmarks, with Nifty Midcap 50 rising half a percent. Media and oil & gas stocks also saw strong buying interest.

After hitting lifetime highs of 69,599 and 20,955 respectively earlier in the day, benchmark indices pared some gains but continued their upward trajectory overall.

On Tuesday, the Sensex had rallied over 400 points to end above 69,000, while the Nifty settled at a record closing peak of 20,850.

“RBI’s upcoming policy decision is keeping investors cautious in Wednesday’s session,” said Gaurav Garg, Head of Research, CapitalVia Global Research.

The rupee appreciated marginally to 83.35 against the dollar in opening deals. FIIs purchasing local equities along with stocks touching new highs boosted forex market sentiment.

Equities in other Asian markets were mixed as investors weighed risks like a potential Covid surge in China against prospects of reopening.

Govt Gets Tough On Deepfakes, Sets New 7-Day Deadline For Platform Compliance

The government on Tuesday held a second round of talks with social media firms to assess their progress in tackling online misinformation and deepfakes in alignment with Indian regulations.

While some platforms demonstrated an understanding of compliance requirements, others have shown laziness so far, as per sources.

Minister of State for IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar made it clear during the ‘Digital India Dialogue’ session that the government will continue its zero-tolerance approach on user harms enabled by platforms.

A seven-day deadline has now been set for all firms, including those slow to act, to fully comply with existing IT rules that mandate removal of illegal content.

Deepfakes are a relatively new but serious threat that can undermine electoral processes and democracy if unchecked, officials reiterated. There are also criminal consequences under current laws for such user harm.

Earlier on November 24, a first compliance meeting was held asking platforms to align policies with Indian regulations within seven days. But progress has been uneven.

The government is now adopting a stringent, no-excuse stance as the dangers of deepfakes and online misinformation continue rising globally. A final stock-take meeting will occur next week.

This is the second such production halt for Pegatron in recent months after a fire incident halted output in September at its India plant.

Foxconn, which employs around 35,000 people across two units in Tamil Nadu, is yet to decide on resuming work on Tuesday amid the cyclone disruption, sources privy to the development said.

Chennai and several neighboring districts are witnessing extreme rainfall and flooding, prompting authorities to issue holidays for offices and schools on Tuesday.

The city’s airport has also stopped operations while roads remain waterlogged, hampering overall transportation and mobility.

The disruptions come even as Foxconn recently committed fresh investments of $1.6 billion for expanding manufacturing in India – a key growth market.

But natural calamities like the current cyclone emphasize the need for Apple and suppliers to build resilient supply chains as they shift production from China.

Cyclone Mandous is expected to strike the Tamil Nadu coast on Tuesday night. Authorities have ensured essential services will operate along with disaster management teams.

Samsung Set To Dethrone Xiaomi As India Market Leader In 2023: Counterpoint

Samsung Set To Dethrone Xiaomi As India Market Leader In 2023: Counterpoint

Samsung is poised to end Xiaomi’s long reign at the top to become the no.1 smartphone brand in India in terms of shipment volumes in 2023, analysts at Counterpoint Research predicted.

Citing multiple headwinds for Xiaomi, Counterpoint forecasted that Samsung will capture 18% market share next year from 17% presently to grab the pole position.

In contrast, Xiaomi’s share is likely to slip to 15% in 2023 from 16.6% in Q3 2022 amid regulatory troubles, allowing Korean rival Samsung to take advantage after being neck-and-neck so far.

This would mark a tectonic shift in India’s smartphone pecking order which has been dominated by Xiaomi at the summit since 2018, while Samsung last led in 2017 with a 23% volume share.

Counterpoint analysts said Xiaomi’s decline will also benefit third-placed Vivo, which is set to log 17% market share in 2023.

The ultra-premium segment (above Rs 45,000) too is rapidly gaining momentum, with Apple recording its best-ever quarter of 2.5 million iPhone shipments in India amid splashy launches.

Samsung’s aggressive push with its premium Galaxy S series and competitive A series has placed it perfectly to capitalize on any slip-up by Xiaomi in the mid-range.

With foldables also witnessing gradually increasing traction, 2023 promises to bring significant changes to India’s smartphone arena, said Counterpoint Research Associate Director Tarun Pathak.
