Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a Hindu festival celebrated across India. It signifies the end of the nine-night Navratri festival and marks the tenth day of the lunar fortnight in the Hindu month of Ashwin. It is believed that Lord Rama, with the help of his brother Lakshmana and the divine monkey army, defeated Ravana and rescued his wife Sita from captivity.

The burning of Ravana’s effigy is a highlight of Dussehra celebrations. This symbolic act represents the triumph of good over evil and the destruction of negative forces. People gather in large numbers to witness this spectacular event, which is often accompanied by fireworks and cultural performances.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached a significant milestone Monday, completing 23 years in public office, prompting senior BJP leaders to commemorate his journey from Gujarat’s Chief Minister to India’s Prime Minister as a testament to dedicated public service.

PM Modi completes 23 years in Public Office

PM Modi’s political trajectory began on October 7, 2001, when he took oath as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, a position he held for 13 years before ascending to the nation’s highest executive office in 2014. Currently serving his third consecutive term as Prime Minister, Modi’s tenure has drawn praise from his party colleagues for what they describe as transformative leadership.

Amit Shah takes to social media

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a long-time associate of Modi, reflected on this journey through a statement on X (formerly Twitter) in Hindi, “Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 23 years in his public life as Chief Minister and Prime Minister. This 23-year-long journey of public service is a symbol of the unique dedication of how a person can devote his entire life to the national interest and welfare of people.”

Shah, who has witnessed Modi’s political evolution firsthand, emphasized the Prime Minister’s holistic approach to governance, noting his simultaneous focus on poverty alleviation, national development, security, and India’s global standing.

PM Modi’s dedication is inspiring: JP Nadda

BJP President JP Nadda highlighted Modi’s commitment to “Antyodaya” (upliftment of the poorest), stating, “His dedication to Maa Bharati (Mother India) is inspiring for all of us. The country’s progress and global prestige have achieved new dimensions under his leadership.” Nadda particularly emphasized Modi’s journey from being a party worker to the nation’s leader, characterizing it as “inclusive and all-encompassing.”

Former BJP President and current Union Minister Nitin Gadkari added to the chorus of congratulations, describing Modi as “the world’s most popular leader” while noting the parallel rise in India’s global stature during his 23 years of public service.

Here’s what BJP’s official page says:

The BJP’s official communication emphasized Modi’s governance model, particularly highlighting how his initiatives as Gujarat’s Chief Minister evolved into national movements through “jan bhagidari” (public participation). The party specifically pointed out Modi’s work ethic, stating, “For over two decades, PM Modi has selflessly prioritized the nation, working tirelessly without a single vacation.”

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Modi’s leadership philosophy, noting his adherence to the principle of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with all, Development for all) and the mantra of “charaiveti – charaiveti” (keep marching).

PM Modi’s vision to see India as developed nation in 2047

This milestone comes at a time when PM Modi leads India’s ambitious vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The BJP has positioned this 23-year journey as evidence of Modi’s “rashtra pratham” (nation first) commitment, emphasizing his role in transforming the lives of 140 crore Indians.

The celebration of this milestone by BJP leadership underscores Modi’s dominant position in Indian politics, having successfully transitioned from state to national leadership while maintaining popular support.

His tenure has been marked by significant policy initiatives, from economic reforms to digital transformation, though it has also faced challenges and criticism from opposition parties.

As Modi continues his third term as Prime Minister, this 23-year milestone serves as both a reflection of his political journey and a reminder of his enduring influence on India’s political landscape. The consistent theme in the BJP’s celebrations emphasized Modi’s dedication to public service and national development, framing his leadership as instrumental in shaping India’s domestic and international trajectory.

Racism in Bigg Boss 18? Here’s what happened:

The heated exchange began innocuously over a discussion about spicy chutney. Visibly disturbed, Darang confronted the comment head-on, demanding, “Tumhare udhar ka matlab?” She firmly asserted her identity, declaring, “I am Indian, and I am offended.” Rather than diffusing the situation with an apology, Dhami reportedly turned the tables, claiming he was insulted.

“All of the 13 members fell ill after having their food and were rushed to a hospital where all of them died. When the post-mortem was done it emerged that these people had died from poisonous food,” Shah stated in his official report.

The victims included the suspect’s parents and other immediate family members. Following a thorough police investigation, the girl was arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime.

Delhi AIIMS Doctors to Join Bengal Protest against RG Kar Horror

Six junior doctors at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital have initiated a fast-unto-death protest, escalating their ongoing campaign for justice following the August rape and murder case at their institution. The protest marks another potential confrontation with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s administration.

The protesting doctors announced their intention to continue the hunger strike “for an indefinite period till we get justice.”

Delhi AIIMS doctors to join protest against RG Kar Horror

Their demonstration has gained support from medical professionals across the country, with colleagues from Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) planning to join through a candlelight protest at JLN Auditorium.

An AIIMS doctor, speaking to the media on Monday morning, expressed solidarity while acknowledging their limitations in joining the indefinite strike due to patient care responsibilities. He stated, “The country has seen junior doctors of Bengal striking for 50 days. The demands have been clear since Day 1 – justice.”

Doctors criticize CIB

The doctor criticized the slow pace of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) probe and voiced concerns about the state government’s response. “Mamata Banerjee is not listening… she is just diverting the topic. Transferring some officials and not changing the ground reality. So how will doctors have a sense of security at the workplace?” he questioned.

The protests have highlighted broader concerns about workplace safety in healthcare institutions. The AIIMS representative emphasized, “It is high time that this ‘threat culture’ should end… not just in Kolkata but anywhere in India. If this is prevalent in any section of society it should end.”

The current demonstration follows a recent “ceasework” movement that was withdrawn on Friday. During that protest, doctors had limited their services to essential and emergency care, avoiding outpatient departments since October 1. The protesters claim the state government failed to fulfil assurances made during previous discussions with the Chief Minister.

Key demands from the medical community include:

– Justice for their colleague in the August rape-murder case

– Enhanced workplace safety measures

– Administrative restructuring to address the “threat culture”

– Increased CCTV surveillance across hospital campuses

The renewed protests coincide with another tragic incident in the state – the discovery of a 10-year-old girl’s body in a canal in 24 South Parganas’ Kultali. Chief Minister Banerjee has directed police to file a case under the POCSO Act and “ensure culprits get capital punishment.” The victim’s family has alleged police negligence in handling the case.

The police force faces mounting scrutiny over their handling of both cases, particularly regarding the delayed filing of cases in the RG Kar Hospital incident, which has drawn questions from the courts.

Kolkata doctors ensure patient care & treatment

Despite the ongoing hunger strike, the protesting doctors have assured that patient care will not be compromised, stating that while they will continue their duties, they will abstain from eating. They have explicitly placed responsibility for their health condition on the state administration.

The situation represents a critical juncture in the ongoing dialogue between medical professionals and state authorities regarding workplace safety and justice in West Bengal’s healthcare system. As protests escalate and support grows from medical communities across India, the pressure mounts on the state government to address these longstanding concerns effectively.

This latest development adds another layer to the complex relationship between the medical community and state administration in West Bengal, where previous protests have significantly impacted healthcare services at state-run medical institutions.

Mark Zuckerberg turns fashion design?

The 40-year-old tech mogul revealed his surprising new passion project during a September appearance on the “Acquired” podcast. “I’ve kind of started working on this series of shirts with some of my favourite classical sayings on them,” Zuckerberg disclosed, wearing a black t-shirt emblazoned with the Greek phrase “pathei mathos” (learning through suffering), which he described as “a little family saying.”

Here’s what Mark Zuckerberg said:

This philosophical fashion statement represents more than just a wardrobe upgrade for the traditionally casual-dressing CEO. At a recent Meta keynote presentation, Zuckerberg sported another design featuring “aut Zuck, aut nihil” – a playful twist on the Latin phrase “aut Caesar, aut nihil” (either a Caesar or nothing), demonstrating his blend of classical education with modern tech-world confidence.

Meta’s CEO is not just a tech titan but also…

The move represents an intriguing evolution for Zuckerberg, who has long been known for prioritizing simplicity in his wardrobe choices. His new interest in fashion design, particularly with its focus on classical philosophy, offers a glimpse into a different facet of the tech leader’s personality – one that combines intellectual depth with personal style.

While the extent of Zuckerberg’s fashion industry involvement remains to be seen, this unexpected venture suggests that even tech titans can surprise us with new creative pursuits. Whether this represents a serious long-term investment in fashion or simply a personal creative outlet, it’s clear that Zuckerberg is weaving his intellectual interests into wearable art.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya etched his name in the record books once again, surpassing the legendary Virat Kohli to become the player with the most T20I matches finishing with a six. This remarkable feat was achieved during India’s first T20I match against Bangladesh in Gwalior.

Hardik Pandya makes T20 history, here’s how…

Pandya’s all-round brilliance was on full display throughout the match. With the ball, he claimed a wicket for 26 runs in his four overs, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.50. Batting second, India chased down the target of 128 runs with ease, thanks in large part to Pandya’s blistering 39* runs off just 16 balls, including five fours and two sixes. His strike rate of 243.75 showcased his exceptional finishing abilities.

One of the highlights of Pandya’s innings was a stunning no-look ramp shot over the wicketkeeper’s head. The shot, executed with signature confidence and swagger, demonstrated his power and timing.

Hardik Panya leaves Virat Kohli behind!

With his fifth T20I match finished with a six, Pandya surpassed Kohli’s previous record of four. Additionally, he also surpassed Arshdeep Singh to become India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket, with 87 wickets.

Here’s what happened in the match:

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh had been bundled out for 127 runs in 19.5 overs, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributing significant runs. India’s bowling attack, led by Arshdeep Singh (3/14) and Varun Chakravarthy (3/31), proved too much for the visitors.

In the chase, India’s Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav laid a solid foundation before Pandya took centre stage and sealed the victory with a 52-run partnership with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack failed to make a significant impact in the second innings, with only Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy managing to take wickets.

Arshdeep Singh was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding bowling performance. India now holds a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that his country’s ‘Maldives First’ policy will not compromise its crucial security relationship with India, addressing concerns during his first bilateral visit to New Delhi.

Maldives President visits India, to hold bilateral talks

In a significant interview with the Times of India, Muizzu offered reassurance about the Maldives’ diplomatic balancing act: “We are confident that our engagements with other nations will not undermine India’s security interests.” He characterized India as a “valued partner and friend,” emphasizing that their relationship is “built on mutual respect and shared interests.”

The visit, which began on Sunday, comes at a time when New Delhi has expressed concerns about Malé’s growing ties with Beijing. However, Muizzu maintained a positive tone, stating, “The relations between the Maldives and India have always been strong, and I am confident this visit will further strengthen it.”

Here’s what Jaishankar said:

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who met with Muizzu, expressed optimism about the diplomatic engagement: “We are confident that Muizzu’s discussions with Prime Minister Modi will lend a new impetus to our friendly ties.”

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the visit’s importance in strengthening the “long-standing India-Maldives comprehensive bilateral partnership.” The five-day diplomatic mission will include discussions between Muizzu and Prime Minister Modi on bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest.

While this marks Muizzu’s first bilateral visit to India as president, he had previously attended Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in June, indicating the continuing importance of Indo-Maldivian relations despite regional complexities.
