Madhya Pradesh School Faces Criticism After Using Pakistan Flag

A pre-school in Madhya Pradesh faced criticism after allegedly using Pakistan’s national flag during an Independence Day performance on August 15. The controversy erupted when the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested, demanding action against the private school in Ratlam after a video of the performance went viral on social media, according to PTI.

On Wednesday, an official informed PTI that an investigation had been launched into the incident. ABVP members staged protests, blocked a road, and submitted a memorandum to the district collector, urging action against the school, as reported by PTI.

District Collector Rajesh Batham told PTI that the ABVP’s memorandum would be forwarded to the police for further investigation, and legal action would be taken based on the findings.

The viral video drew the attention of ABVP activists, who opposed the pre-school’s Independence Day program. ABVP’s Ratlam district convenor, Satyam Dave, stated that the members protested and blocked a road in response to the video, which purportedly showed the waving of the Pakistani flag.

In response to the controversy, Deepak Pant, Director of Time Kids Pre-School, explained that the act was part of a drama on the freedom struggle, which included a depiction of the Partition. He clarified that the video circulating on social media showed a scene from the drama where both Indian and Pakistani flags were used to represent the Partition and freedom struggle. Pant emphasized that the video was shared out of context.
