Punjab Allocates Rs 71 Crore To Speed Up Flood Relief Efforts

Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner Revenue Anurag Verma announced that extra financial aid has been assigned to the districts most affected by the heavy floods

. According to him, Amritsar will receive Rs 5 crore, Bathinda Rs 2 crore, Barnala Rs 1 crore, Faridkot Rs 1 crore, Ferozepur Rs 5 crore, Fazilka Rs 5 crore, Fatehgarh Sahib Rs 1 crore, Gurdaspur Rs 6.5 crore, Hoshiarpur Rs 3 crore, Jalandhar Rs 5 crore, Kapurthala Rs 5 crore, Ludhiana Rs 5 crore, Moga Rs 1.5 crore, Mansa Rs 1 crore, Malerkotla Rs 1 crore, Patiala Rs 5 crore, Pathankot Rs 4 crore, Rupnagar Rs 2.5 crore, Sri Muktsar Sahib Rs 2 crore, SAS Nagar Rs 2 crore, SBS Nagar Rs 1 crore, Sangrur Rs 1.5 crore and Tarn Taran Rs 5 crore.

This latest release of Rs 35.50 crore comes in addition to an earlier disbursal of the same amount to all districts, bringing the total sanctioned funds for flood management to Rs 71 crore.

Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian stressed that the administration is working without delay to provide assistance to affected families. He stated that both immediate rescue operations and long-term rehabilitation are being carried out, with particular focus on farmers who have experienced major crop losses. The minister reiterated that the government’s top priority remains the safety of people and the protection of their property during the ongoing flood crisis.
