Punjab Govt Initiates Extensive Flood Relief Efforts And Assigns Senior Leaders to Affected Regions

Punjab’s flood relief operations are being carried out round the clock with the state government working closely with the National Disaster Response Force and other central agencies. Authorities say the focus remains on providing food, clean water, shelter, and medical care until normalcy is restored.

To ensure this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has deployed his entire council of ministers to the ground. Each minister has been directed to stay in flood-affected districts and personally oversee evacuations, distribution of essentials, and arrangements for displaced families. Mann has warned that delays in relief will not be tolerated.

On Wednesday, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema reviewed the situation with Deputy Commissioners of Sangrur and Mansa through a virtual meeting. He underlined the government’s commitment, stating, “Our top priority is to save every life and protect every property. No stone should be left unturned in mitigating the hardships faced by the people in flood-hit areas.”

Cabinet colleagues are spread across the state leading district-level efforts. Harbhajan Singh ETO is coordinating rescue work in Ramdas, Tarn Taran, Sri Goindwal Sahib and Ajnala. Barinder Kumar Goyal is also stationed in Sri Goindwal Sahib and Ajnala, while Gurmeet Singh Khuddian is handling relief in Kapurthala villages. Lal Chand Kataruchak has been sent to Pathankot, Laljit Singh Bhullar to Tarn Taran, and Hardeep Singh Mundian to Tehsil Sultanpur Lodhi.

With ministers supervising on-site and agencies reinforcing rescue measures, the government has assured citizens that every possible step will be taken to reduce suffering and safeguard lives during this crisis.
