iOS 27 Siri Upgrade from Apple Could Come Through Dedicated New App

Apple could finally be preparing a major upgrade for Siri next month with the possible launch of a dedicated AI powered app alongside iOS 27 at WWDC 2026.

According to recent reports, Apple is working on a standalone Siri experience built around conversational AI, marking one of the company’s biggest attempts yet to modernise its voice assistant.

Siri may get a chatbot style interface

The new Siri app is expected to feature a chat based interface similar to AI assistants already available on other platforms. Reports suggest the assistant could be powered by Google’s Gemini AI model while still operating within Apple’s ecosystem.

Users may reportedly be able to continue follow up conversations naturally instead of restarting queries each time. The assistant is also expected to support file uploads, allowing people to ask questions related to documents, images or other files directly inside the app.

Apple is said to be developing a new gesture in iOS 27 that would let users instantly open the Siri chatbot from any screen. Reports also indicate that Siri related notifications and responses could receive a redesigned interface integrated into the Dynamic Island.

Privacy features expected to play major role

Privacy is reportedly becoming a central part of Apple’s AI strategy.

The updated Siri app may include an option allowing users to automatically delete chat history after a selected period, such as 30 days or one year, or store conversations permanently if preferred.

The feature is being compared to disappearing messages inside iMessage and could become a key selling point for Apple’s AI ecosystem.

Reports further suggest Apple plans to process Gemini powered Siri requests through its own Private Cloud Compute infrastructure rather than handing user data directly to Google. If implemented, this approach would help Apple maintain its long standing focus on user privacy.

AI delays may push Siri launch into beta

Apple has reportedly struggled with delays tied to its broader artificial intelligence rollout, with several previously announced Siri upgrades still unavailable to users.

Because of this, the company may initially release the new Siri experience under a beta label before gradually expanding features in future software updates.

More information about Siri, Apple Intelligence and iOS 27 is expected to be revealed during WWDC 2026 next month.
