Google Discover Set To Feature Instagram Posts And YouTube Shorts Inside User Feed

Google is expanding the role of its Discover feed, turning it into a one-stop space that blends news with social media updates. The company revealed that alongside articles from publishers, the feed will soon display posts from platforms such as Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and X—an update designed to cut down the need to constantly switch between apps.

The rollout will take place gradually in the coming weeks, according to a blog post by Google. The feed is set to include “new content, formats and features” that showcase updates from both global publishers and independent creators, with support for additional platforms to be introduced later.

The shift comes in response to user feedback, as many people indicated they wanted Discover to carry not just articles but also videos and social posts. By weaving together multiple types of content, Google hopes to make the feed more closely aligned with individual interests and habits.

Personalisation is also being upgraded. A new “follow” button now sits at the top of posts, giving users the option to subscribe directly to a publisher or creator. Tapping a name will open a dedicated page featuring their latest work—videos, stories, and articles—before users decide whether to follow. These features, however, require signing in with a Google account.

Google has already introduced tools that let people choose preferred sources in search results, helping them cut through low-quality material and focus on trusted outlets. With Discover’s latest transformation, the company is moving further toward a personalised hub that combines journalism with social updates in one feed.

For Indian users especially, the changes could mean quicker access to information and entertainment without juggling multiple apps, making Discover a central place for daily updates.
