Under Mann Govt’s Dynamic Vision, Punjab Prepares ₹20,000 Crore Auto Parts Investment

Punjab is rapidly transforming into one of India’s most promising centers for auto component manufacturing. Backed by a proactive government, modern infrastructure, and a strong focus on innovation, the state has succeeded in drawing the attention of leading automobile companies from across the globe. This transformation reflects Punjab’s growing influence on the world automotive map.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s forward-looking policies and hands-on governance have played a major role in this success. A major milestone in this journey is the upcoming BMW component manufacturing unit in Mandi Gobindgarh, which will begin operations next month. With an investment of about 150 crore rupees, the plant will produce around 2.5 million parts annually for BMW. This achievement showcases Punjab’s technical strength and its ability to meet international standards of quality and precision.

To ensure investors face no administrative hurdles, the state has launched a comprehensive single-window system that simplifies all processes related to approvals, permits, and licenses. The Chief Minister has made it clear that every investor will receive full support and a seamless experience. Alongside this, the government’s commitment to maintaining industrial harmony, expanding exports, and building a skilled workforce has made Punjab one of the most attractive destinations for business growth.

The state’s new industrial policy also focuses on creating dedicated committees for key industries, including the automobile and auto components sectors. These committees are responsible for promoting advanced technology, innovation, and competitiveness so that even small and medium enterprises can thrive in the global market. Through training programs, technical guidance, and access to new markets, local startups and entrepreneurs will receive direct benefits from this policy.

Punjab’s auto component industry is now gaining international recognition. The state already contributes nearly seven percent to India’s overall auto parts production, and that figure is expected to rise significantly with fresh investments. This steady growth is driving industrial expansion, increasing exports, and generating thousands of jobs for the youth.

Foreign investors are also taking keen interest in Punjab’s industrial rise. Projections suggest that between 15,000 and 20,000 crore rupees worth of new investment will flow into the auto sector in 2025 alone. Such large-scale inflows will enhance production capabilities, improve technology, and create opportunities for vendors and suppliers across the state, ultimately strengthening the entire industrial ecosystem.

Punjab’s growing role in the electric vehicle revolution has further boosted its importance. The state’s companies are already manufacturing EV components, smart drivetrains, and environmentally friendly technologies. As India moves rapidly toward electric mobility, Punjab is prepared to become a key player in building sustainable and future-ready solutions for both domestic and international markets.

This industrial momentum is also opening doors for Punjab’s youth. Thousands of employment opportunities are being created across engineering, production, logistics, and management sectors. The government’s ongoing skill development programs are equipping young people with the practical knowledge required by the modern automotive industry, ensuring they can take full advantage of these emerging prospects.

With its progressive policies, investor-friendly environment, and focus on sustainable growth, Punjab’s auto component sector has become a symbol of innovation and global competitiveness. The arrival of globally renowned companies like BMW highlights the state’s growing reputation as a dependable industrial base. Punjab, once known primarily for its agriculture, is now redefining itself as an engine of industrial progress—ready to drive India’s economic growth in the decades to come.
