Rahul Gandhi Takes a Jab At PM Modi’s ‘sent by god’ Remark

On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘sent by god’ comment. Gandhi suggested that after the elections, when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questions PM Modi about industrialist Gautam Adani, Modi will claim that God directed him.

“You know why PM Modi has brought up this story of being sent by God? Because, after the election, when the ED questions him about Adani, he will say, ‘I don’t know, it was instructed by God,’” Gandhi remarked at a rally in Bihar’s Bakhtiyarpur.

He further criticized the prime minister on the issue of unemployment, saying, “Modi ji, stop giving long speeches and dividing the country. First, tell the people of Bihar and the entire country how many jobs you have provided to the youth.”

Gandhi’s comments came shortly after PM Modi stated in a news channel interview that, while his mother was alive, he believed his birth was biological. After her death, reflecting on his experiences, he became convinced that God had sent him.

“Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, when I look at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God. This strength is not from my body. It has been given to me by God. That’s why God also gave me the ability, strength, pure-heartedness, and inspiration to do this. I’m nothing but an instrument that God has sent,” PM Modi reportedly said during the interview.

Voting in Bihar’s Sasaram, Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Arrah, Buxar, Karakat, and Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituencies will take place in the final phase on June 1.

In Bihar, the NDA coalition partners BJP and JD(U) are contesting 17 and 16 seats, respectively. Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is contesting five seats, and Jitan Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha are each contesting one seat. The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) comprises the RJD, Congress, and Left parties.
