Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan bus stand will be renamed Birsa Munda Chowk on Friday, coinciding with the tribal leader’s 150th birth anniversary.

The renaming ceremony is part of the nationwide celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, honouring the legacy of the renowned tribal freedom fighter from Jharkhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in commemorative events in Bihar’s Jamui district.
“The 150th birth anniversary year of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji is going to start from tomorrow,” Modi posted on X. “On the occasion of Tribal Pride Day, at around 11 am in Jamui, Bihar, we will have the privilege of releasing a commemorative coin and postage stamp in his honour, besides laying the foundation stone and inaugurating many projects.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule includes unveiling several development initiatives during the celebration, marking a significant tribute to the tribal icon’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle. PM Modi took part in the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas programme in Bihar’s Jamui and is scheduled to inaugurate several projects there.
