In a concerning turn of events, security has been significantly bolstered at Bollywood actor Salman Khan‘s residence following the assassination of politician Baba Siddique by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Nearly a dozen police officers have been stationed outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where Salman Khan and his parents reside.
Security tightened outside Salman Khan’s house
Siddique, known for hosting lavish iftar parties and being a close friend of Khan, was recently shot dead. The actor visited both Siddique’s home and the hospital in the aftermath of the incident.
Salman Khan has been on the Bishnoi gang’s “target” list since the 1998 blackbuck case and has received multiple threats. In April, warning shots were fired outside his house, escalating concerns for his safety.
Is Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang behind Baba Siddique’s murder?
Following Siddique’s murder, the Bishnoi gang issued a chilling threat against anyone assisting Khan. A Facebook post by Shubuu Lonkar believed to be associated with gang member Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, claimed Siddique was killed due to his alleged connections with terrorist Dawood Ibrahim and his closeness to Khan.
The post ominously stated in Hindi, “We do not have any enmity with anyone but whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood gang, keep your accounts in order (‘hisab-kitaab kar lena’).” Police have since arrested Pravin Lonkar, brother of the jailed Shubham Lonkar, for making the post.
Bishnoi gang behind many threats of celebs
This incident is part of a larger pattern of threats against celebrities perceived to be close to Khan. In November last year, shots were fired at Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal’s house in Vancouver, Canada.
The Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility, citing Grewal’s praise of Khan as the motive. Similarly, in September, singer AP Dhillon’s house in Vancouver was targeted after he released a music video featuring Khan.
Why Bishnoi gang is after Salman Khan?
The Bishnoi gang’s vendetta against Khan stems from his alleged involvement in the shooting of blackbucks near Jodhpur in 1998 during the filming of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. The Bishnoi community, which reveres the blackbuck, was deeply offended by this incident.
Lawrence Bishnoi publicly declared his intention to kill Khan in a 2018 court statement, underlining the persistent nature of this threat. As authorities work to ensure Khan’s safety, these events highlight the complex interplay between celebrity, crime, and cultural sensitivities in India’s public sphere.
