PM Modi Inaugurates India’s 1st PM MITRA Textile Park on 75th Birthday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 75th birthday on Wednesday by laying the foundation stone for India’s first Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, marking his second birthday visit to the state since 2022.

PM Modi also launched two significant health initiatives—’Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ and ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ campaigns—from Dhar, accepting birthday greetings from attendees at a public rally.

The PM MITRA scheme represents the Centre’s ambitious plan to establish seven large-scale textile manufacturing hubs across Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, featuring world-class infrastructure and facilities.

About the Project – PM MITRA Textile Park

Located in Bhainsola village across approximately 2,158 acres, the Dhar facility will benefit cotton producers significantly. The park will feature comprehensive infrastructure including a 20 Mega Liters per Day common effluent treatment plant, a 10 Megavolt-amperes solar power plant, continuous water and electricity supply, modern road networks, and 81 plug-and-play industrial units.

Beyond manufacturing capabilities, the facility will include housing and social amenities for workers and women employees, transforming it into an integrated industrial township rather than merely an industrial zone.

Leading textile companies have demonstrated strong confidence in the project, submitting investment proposals totalling Rs 23,146 crore, according to government statements.

The ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ campaign, running until October 2 at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, prioritizes women’s health through mental health support, gender equity initiatives, adolescent anemia management, and active lifestyle promotion.

Here’s what expert says on PM MITRA:

National Health Mission MP Director Dr Saloni Sidana emphasized women’s tendency to neglect personal health while caring for others. “Men must extend support, and women should dedicate at least an hour daily to self-care without guilt,” she stated.

Dr Rachana Dubey, Director of NHM’s Information, Education and Communication Bureau, highlighted adolescent health concerns: “Many adolescents suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) without realising it,” urging screening participation. “We are developing centres to provide screening and treatment services,” she said.

The 8th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ campaign focuses on reducing sugar and edible oil consumption, promoting early childhood care and education, and encouraging locally available nutritious food resources.
