The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a widespread operation across five major Indian cities, investigating alleged illegal ticket sales for upcoming Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh concerts. The ED raids, conducted on October 25, targeted 13 locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore.
ED raids in 5 cities over illegal ticket sales of concerts
The investigation follows numerous complaints after official ticketing partners BookMyShow and Zomato Live reported instant sellouts for both events. Reports of black marketing, fraudulent ticket sales, and excessive price markups prompted multiple FIRs across several states. BookMyShow has also filed separate complaints against suspected fraudsters.
During the raids, ED officials seized various electronic devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards. The investigation revealed an extensive network of fake ticket sales operating through social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
Here’s what ED said:
“The searches focused on investigating illegal ticket sales, financial networks supporting these scams and tracing the proceeds of crime,” an ED statement noted.
The affected events include Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, in Mumbai, and Diljit Dosanjh’s Dilluminati India tour, beginning October 26 in Delhi and concluding December 29 in Guwahati.
This enforcement action represents one of the largest coordinated efforts to combat ticket fraud in India’s entertainment sector.
