The Delhi government has finalized plans to establish three industrial areas in Kanjhawala, Ranikhera, and Baprola, with the proposal awaiting Cabinet approval, officials announced Tuesday.

The planned industrial zones will prioritize emerging sectors including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced robotics. According to government officials, these developments will be structured under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework to facilitate financial support and encourage sectoral growth.

Spanning approximately 1,200 acres combined, the three locations are projected to generate substantial employment opportunities, potentially creating hundreds of thousands of jobs across the region.

Unlike conventional industrial estates concentrated solely on manufacturing facilities, these developments will follow a “satellite town” concept. The integrated model will incorporate commercial office spaces alongside residential units, community centers, hospitality establishments, retail markets, and designated green spaces.

Here’s what Delhi Govt. emphasizes:

Delhi Government officials emphasized that the projects will prioritize sustainable development practices. Plans include eco-friendly building infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and improved public transportation connectivity through Delhi Metro rail services and bus networks.

“Our vision is to create modern, mixed-use spaces, similar to Gurgaon’s Cyber City, that attract top talent and significantly boost Delhi’s economy,” an official stated.

The satellite town approach represents a departure from Delhi’s existing industrial zones, which typically feature concentrated manufacturing complexes with limited residential or commercial integration. By combining workplace, living, and recreational facilities within single developments, the government aims to reduce commuting pressures and create self-sufficient economic ecosystems.

Here’s the locations of plan:

The three proposed locations—Kanjhawala, Ranikhera, and Baprola—are situated in Delhi’s outer areas, providing space for large-scale development while maintaining connectivity to the capital’s urban core.

Officials indicated that comprehensive project details, including specific acreage allocations for each site, investment requirements, implementation timelines, and PPP partnership structures, will be disclosed following Cabinet review and approval.

The initiative aligns with broader efforts to diversify Delhi’s economic base beyond traditional sectors and position the capital as a hub for technology-driven industries. The emphasis on AI, biotechnology, and robotics reflects government priorities to attract investment in high-growth, high-skill sectors that could enhance the region’s competitive position in India’s evolving industrial landscape.
