ATS Arrests Kanpur Ordnance Factory Worker For Leaking Information

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a junior works manager from Kanpur Ordnance Factory on Wednesday for allegedly sharing classified and sensitive information with a suspected Pakistani intelligence operative, according to an official statement.

As reported by PTI, the accused, Kumar Vikas, had been leaking information through social media. Following a detailed investigation into the security breach, he was taken into custody.

What Information Was Leaked?

Investigations revealed that Vikas had been in contact with a suspected Pakistani agent who posed as “Neha Sharma” to establish communication.

According to ATS, Vikas had been transmitting confidential documents and sensitive data, including ordnance manufacturing details, employee attendance records, machine layouts, and production charts, via WhatsApp.

Authorities stated that the Pakistani agent initially introduced herself as an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and connected with Vikas through Facebook. Their interactions later moved to WhatsApp after exchanging phone numbers.

To evade detection, they reportedly used the Ludo gaming app for covert communication. The ATS statement further mentioned that Vikas was allegedly enticed with financial incentives to share classified information. Vikas’ arrest followed the recent detention of another Ordnance Factory employee, Ravindra Kumar, on March 13 in Firozabad for similar offenses.

During his interrogation, Ravindra Kumar admitted to leaking sensitive data, leading ATS officials to probe Vikas, who had been in contact with the suspected Pakistani agent since January 2025, according to PTI.

Following Ravindra Kumar’s confession, authorities charged him under Section 148 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Official Secrets Act of 1923 before placing him under arrest.

The ATS statement concluded that Ravindra Kumar, a chargeman at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, had been passing sensitive and confidential information to a Pakistani agent whom he befriended on Facebook.
