Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again voiced his belief that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, following an official nomination by Pakistan. Citing his involvement in resolving several global conflicts—including tensions between India and Pakistan and the ongoing crisis between Congo and Rwanda—Trump insisted he should have received the honor multiple times.
“They should give me the Nobel Prize for Rwanda, and if you look at Congo, or Serbia and Kosovo—you could name several,” Trump told reporters on Friday. “The big one is India and Pakistan. I should have gotten it four or five times.”
Pakistan’s government formally nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, praising what it described as his “decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership” during the recent India-Pakistan standoff. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry asserted that Trump’s role in easing regional tensions merited international recognition.
Trump has long claimed he helped defuse hostilities between India and Pakistan—an assertion the Indian government has repeatedly denied.
During Friday’s remarks, Trump also hinted at a peace agreement reportedly set to be signed on Monday between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda—two nations embroiled in a protracted and recently intensified conflict. Details of the accord and the extent of U.S. involvement remain unclear, with no independent confirmation available.
Reiterating his belief that he has been unfairly overlooked, Trump said, “They won’t give me a Nobel Peace Prize because they only give it to liberals.”
Throughout his presidency, Trump received multiple Nobel Prize nominations, especially for brokering the Abraham Accords—normalization deals between Israel and several Arab nations. Despite these nominations, he has yet to receive the award.
The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which evaluates candidates based on their contributions to peace and conflict resolution. The committee does not publicly comment on individual nominations.
