Veteran Actor Dharmendra Discharged from Hospital, to Continue Recovery at Home

Veteran actor Dharmendra, 89, was discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning after being admitted for breathlessness on October 31, with doctors confirming he will continue recovery at home.

Dharmendra Medical Update

Dr. Prof. Pratit Samdani, who treated Dharmendra, told media: “Dharmendraji has been discharged from the hospital around 7.30 am. He will be treated at home as the family has decided to give him home treatment.”

Family Statement

The actor’s family released an official statement Wednesday morning: “Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you.”

Addressing Misinformation

On Tuesday, false news prompted daughter Esha Deol to address rumors on social media: “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.” She disabled comments to prevent speculation.

Wife Hema Malini condemned misinformation spread on X: “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”

Hospital Stay

Sunny Deol’s team provided Tuesday evening update: “Dharmendra is responding. Family is hoping for a miracle.” Various reports suggested the actor had been on ventilator support since November 10 and was considered “critical” at one point, though his condition has since improved.

Visitors

Several prominent figures visited during his hospital stay, including Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan, Govinda, Ameesha Patel, and Aamir Khan.

Career

Celebrated for performances in ‘Sholay’, ‘Dharam Veer’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’, and ‘Dream Girl’, Dharmendra was last seen in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. He appears in upcoming film ‘Ikkis’, releasing December 25.
