Actor Mohan Babu Gets Robbed; Domestic Worker Arrested

A theft occurred at actor Mohan Babu’s residence in Jalpally, with a domestic worker allegedly stealing ₹10 lakh in cash, according to police statements to PTI. The accused has now been arrested for the theft, police confirmed on Thursday.

Incident Details

The domestic worker is accused of stealing cash from Mohan Babu’s personal secretary, who had visited the house on Sunday, a police official stated. The theft was discovered when the personal secretary noticed the missing cash, prompting the registration of a case at the Pahadishareef police station.

During the investigation, the domestic worker was apprehended in Tirupati and brought back to Hyderabad, where he was arrested on Wednesday. The accused reportedly took the cash from the personal secretary’s bag, according to officials.

The police have recovered ₹7.36 lakh from the accused, but the remaining amount was found to have been spent. The investigation is ongoing, and Mohan Babu has yet to release a statement regarding the incident.

Mohan Babu first gained recognition as an actor with the 1975 film Swargam Narakam, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Following his breakthrough, he adopted the stage name Mohan Babu, moving away from his birth name, Bakthavatsalam Naidu. Initially known for his comedic villain roles, he later transitioned to leading roles in films like Khaidi Kalidasu, Ketugadu, Gruha Pravesam, Assembly Rowdy, and Allari Mogudu.

The actor was last seen in the 2023 film Shaakunthalam, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, where he played the role of Durvasa Maharishi. He is set to appear in Kannappa, sharing the screen with his son, Manchu Vishnu. His other children, Lakshmi Manchu and Manchu Manoj, are also actors, continuing the family’s legacy.
