Rajkumar Rao Saw Ghosts While Shooting For Stree

Rajkumar Rao may have encountered supernatural forces while filming Stree and its sequel. In a recent interview, the actor shared a peculiar experience involving a photograph taken during a night shoot for the 2018 film when asked about any ghostly encounters.

Reports suggest that the cast and crew had been cautioned against using a certain abandoned street in the town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, where filming was taking place. Despite the warnings from locals, the team chose to shoot at the ‘haunted’ location as it was ideal for the scene.

‘We were shooting a night scene where I had to walk down the lane… and someone was randomly taking photos. After the shoot, he showed me one of the pictures. I was puzzled by it until he zoomed in. There was an old wall with a small balcony, and within it, you could clearly see a shadowy figure sitting there at 2:45 am, with no face,’ Rajkumar recalled.

Director Amar Kaushik had previously mentioned the numerous challenges faced during that particular shoot. According to earlier reports, the crew experienced unexpected technical issues throughout the night, such as flickering lights and light bulbs suddenly shattering.

Since its release on August 15, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer has remained a favorite among audiences, earning ₹204 crore in its first four days. Stree 2 achieved an impressive global gross of ₹283 crore during its opening weekend.

Stree 2—a direct sequel to the 2018 film—is part of the ambitious horror-comedy universe created by producer Dinesh Vijan, which also includes films like Bhediya and Munjya. The movie follows Rao and his friends, along with the mysterious woman played by Kapoor, as they confront a new terror: a ghost with only a head, fittingly named Sarkata.”
