3 Killed, Over 10 Injured As Bus Carrying Cops Collides With Truck In Punjab’s Hoshiarpur

A tragic road accident in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district claimed three lives and left over 10 police personnel injured on Wednesday morning.

According to police, a bus carrying around 20 policemen collided head-on with a stationary truck near the Mukerian area around 7 am amid dense foggy conditions.

The deceased have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Hardev Singh, bus driver, senior constable Gurpreet Singh, and woman constable Shalu Rana.

The bus was ferrying the police contingent from the Punjab Armed Police camp in Jalandhar to Gurdaspur when the mishap took place.

Due to poor visibility, the bus driver did not spot the truck parked on the highway side and rammed straight into it, completely damaging the front portion of the bus.

While three cops including the driver died on the spot, over 10 personnel suffered injuries and were admitted to the civil hospitals in Dasuya and Mukerian by local authorities.

The condition of some of the injured cops is said to be critical. Police teams are on the site investigating further details surrounding the accident.

The tragic loss of three police officials in the crash has sent shockwaves across the state police department. Further probe would reveal if negligence or oversight on the driver’s part caused the fatal collision on a foggy winter morning.
