Veteran scriptwriter Salim Khan opened up about his son Arbaaz Khan’s second marriage to girlfriend Giorgia Andriani on Sunday, saying he gave his blessings to the union without any interference.

In an interview, Salim expressed happiness over the surprise nikah ceremony held at Arpita Khan’s residence. Attendees included the Khan-daan – Salman, Sohail, Helen, and brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor.
When asked if Arbaaz had consulted him before remarrying, Salim remarked, “He just mentioned he was getting married again and I said that’s fine. I felt there’s no need for my permission at this stage.”
The celebrated screenwriter said his 46-year-old son was perfectly capable of making personal decisions as an “educated, mature” individual. Interfering in anyone’s life often complicates matters, according to Salim Khan.
He stressed the wedding was “not a crime” and he gave his blessings wholeheartedly to the bride Giorgia Andriani and the groom. “If Arbaaz is happy, nothing else matters. They decided to marry based on their mutual understanding,” Salim added.
The veteran creative voice behind classics like Sholay and Deewar said he remains an advocate of personal freedom. His progressive stand marks a refreshing change from conservative reactions that second marriages often trigger in India.
After his separation from ex-wife Malaika Arora in 2016, rumors of Arbaaz’s closeness with Giorgia had been rife for several years. The two had made appearances together but never formally acknowledged a relationship until now.
Images of their intimate nikkah have since gone viral, with entertainment media reporting happily on the Khan family’s latest celeb wedding. Arbaaz’s teenage son Arhaan was also spotted at the ceremony, giving his father his blessing.
