Sreesanth Slapped With Notice By T20 League Over Gambhir Verbal Spat

Controversial former India pacer S. Sreesanth landed in hot water after alleging “fixer” jibes from ex-teammate Gautam Gambhir during a veterans’ T20 match this week. He now faces action for contract violations from tournament organizers.

The Legends League Cricket (LLC) served Sreesanth a legal notice for bringing the league into disrepute by posting multiple videos condemning Gambhir’s alleged on-field remarks during Wednesday’s game.

The play was halted briefly after both players exchanged heated words when Gambhir’s India Capitals met Sreesanth’s Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator contest. While umpire match reports didn’t corroborate any personal barbs, Sreesanth slammed his former colleague.

“Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me something which is very rude…something that should not have been said,” Sreesanth said about the ugly spat that got intense.

Gambhir later posted a cryptic social media message to “smile when the world wants your attention.” But Sreesanth’s wife also jumped to his defense, calling the behavior “truly shocking.”

The LLC notice now states any further dialogue with Sreesanth will only happen once he pulls down the offensive videos that dent the league’s integrity and player conduct standards.

The Kerala pacer’s patchy past, including a lifetime ban in 2013 for spot-fixing that was later overturned, has continually mired his cricket career. Despite the U-turn by BCCI on the ban, the 39-year-old fails to evade controversies.

His latest run-in with Gambhir attracts more negative publicity amid attempts at image reform through T20 leagues. For the temperamental bowler, old habits die hard.
