The high-flying teaser for the upcoming action flick “Fighter” dropped Friday, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor as ace Indian fighter pilots.
The first glimpse sets the film up as India’s first aerial action movie, directed by Siddharth Anand. It shows the trio in fighter jet pilot uniforms pulling aerial stunts and dogfights.
In the 30-second teaser, Roshan especially channels Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun” swagger as the cocky pilot leading death-defying formations. It ends patriotically with him unfurling the Indian flag atop his aircraft against the tune “Sujlam Suflam.”
With slick aerial cinematography and a pulsating background score, “Fighter” aims to bring the thrill of combat flying and national pride to the big screen.
The teaser has evoked comparisons to “Top Gun” and enthused fans who praised the lead stars’ screen presence and garb. But they will have to wait for more flight action as the film releases on Jan. 25, 2024.
Backed by Viacom18 Studios, “Fighter” marks Anand’s third outing with Roshan. With aviation war cinema rare in India, the patriotic actioner seems poised to cruise new heights at the box office.
