Delhi Police On High Alert After Khalistani Leader’s Threat To Attack Parliament

Security has been tightened in the national capital after banned Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice’s Gurpatwant Pannun released a video threatening to “shake foundations” of Parliament on December 13.

The Delhi Police have gone on high alert, with heavy security deployment across the city, though Parliament’s winter session is already underway with extra forces.

In the aggressive video on social media, Pannun declares “Delhi will become Khalistan” while contending the Modi government recently plotted to assassinate him. He calls on Kashmiri youth to join his ideological, often violent cause.

December 13 signifies the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament. Pannun has hence chosen the symbolic date to apparently “respond” through violent means for the alleged bid on his life.

Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi slammed US authorities for not acting against Pannun who continues instigating anti-India activities on American soil despite legal provisions.

India has already set up an inquiry committee to probe the US’ allegations of an Indian official planning to kill Pannun while on American soil.

Police reiterated that nobody would be allowed to disturb law and order in the national capital. But the open threats have created tension as the Parliament’s winter session continues till December 22.
