Jimmy Kimmel Set To Host Oscars For Fourth Time In 2024

Comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has been announced as the host for the 96th Academy Awards slated for March 2024, marking his fourth time helming the prestigious ceremony.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed Kimmel’s return to the Oscars stage, two decades after his hosting debut in 2017.

Reacting to the announcement, Kimmel jokingly stated he had “always dreamed of hosting the Oscars four times!” The show will air live on ABC from Los Angeles.

Kimmel last hosted back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. The ceremony went hostless from 2019 to 2021 due to the pandemic. Oscars 2022 had three hosts – Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes.

The 2021 edition without a host saw the lowest viewership ever at 10.4 million. Kimmel’s return indicates the Academy’s emphasis on having an anchor host to boost engagement.

Kimmel’s wife Molly McNearney will executive produce the 2024 Oscars, their second straight year in that role. Academy top brass expressed excitement over the Kimmels’ passion for cinema and promised an entertaining global showcase.

Having an experienced host like Kimmel provides stability for the Academy as it looks to recover ratings and restore the grandeur of Hollywood’s biggest night. His wit and spontaneity as a host are expected to deliver memorable moments for audiences.
