Enhancing Privacy on WhatsApp
WhatsApp continues to introduce new features to enhance user experience and privacy. In an upcoming update, Meta is working on a feature that will allow users to create an alternate profile for the same WhatsApp account. It focuses on improving privacy and simplifying interactions.
The Alternate Profile Feature
The new feature is called ‘Alternate Profile’. It is expected to be integrated into the Profile menu of WhatsApp. Users will have the ability to create an alternate profile. Then, it will be visible to individuals who are not permitted to view the creator’s primary profile photo.
Depending on the user’s privacy settings, those outside of their contacts list will only have access to this alternate profile, without any access to additional personal information. This feature is especially beneficial for individuals who frequently receive messages from unknown numbers.

The alternate profile feature serves as a valuable tool for masking personal information and enhancing privacy. For individuals in businesses or situations where they receive messages from unfamiliar numbers, this feature allows them to maintain their anonymity. Even in the event that WhatsApp introduces usernames in the future, the alternate profile will aid in easy categorization of contacts.

Rollout and Availability
The official rollout date for the alternate profile feature has not been confirmed yet. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently in development and is expected to be included in a future update of the WhatsApp application. In the meantime, users can explore the newly added Channels Tab for other additional features.
