Dussehra Celebrations with PM Modi

PM Modi marked the festive occasion of Dussehra by attending the celebratory burning of Ravan’s effigy at Delhi’s Ram Leela Maidan in Dwarka Sector 10. He was the chief guest at the 11th grand Ramleela organized by the Shri Ramleela Society.

Traditional Welcome

Upon his arrival, PM Modi received a warm traditional welcome from the event organizers. He was presented with a shawl, a statue of Ram Durbar, and a mace as a gesture of respect.

In his address to the public, PM Modi extended his wishes for a joyous Navratri and Vijayadashami. He emphasized the significance of the festival, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, and spoke about the long-awaited construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Ram Temple Construction

PM Modi expressed his delight in witnessing the construction of the Lord Ram Temple on the sacred Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. He described it as a triumph of patience, signifying a cherished moment for the nation.

Dussehra, also known as Vijaya Dashami, holds a special place in the hearts of the people as it celebrates the victory of positivity and righteousness over negativity and evil forces. PM Modi conveyed his warm wishes for the festival, highlighting its message of embracing goodness in life.

Dussehra Celebrations

The Dussehra celebrations at Ram Leela Maidan drew people from various regions who eagerly gathered to participate in the event. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Parvesh Sahib Singh expressed gratitude to PM Modi for accepting the invitation to the festivities.

The Delhi Police took substantial measures to ensure the security of the event, particularly for the burning of Ravan effigies. Deputy Commissioner of Police Joy Tirkey disclosed that around 1,000 police personnel and additional forces were deployed, and comprehensive arrangements were made for fire safety, traffic management, and public safety. Notably, the use of firecrackers was banned, and the police seized over 100 kg of firecrackers in preparation for the event.

Historical Significance

Dussehra, celebrated at the conclusion of Navaratri, carries historical and mythological significance. It commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana after a nine-day battle. Additionally, it signifies the triumph of Maa Durga over the demon Mahishasur, according to another Hindu legend.
