Encounter in J&K’s Rajouri Claims Lives of 2 Terrorists and 1 Soldier

Encounter in J&K’s Rajouri

An encounter in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of two terrorists and one soldier, with several others injured. The operation began during a search operation in Narla village.

During the encounter, security forces managed to eliminate two terrorists. Unfortunately, one soldier lost his life, and three others sustained injuries. Additionally, a six-year-old Labrador from the Army’s dog unit named Kent also tragically lost its life during the firefight.

The Additional Director General of Police for Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, confirmed the gunfight between terrorists and soldiers during the search operation. He reported that one terrorist and one Army soldier were killed, while two Army jawans and one special police officer were injured in the clash.

Operation Details

On September 7, 2023, the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police joined forces to track and monitor the movements of two terrorists. This operation led to a confrontation on September 12, during which one terrorist was killed on the same night.

Despite facing tough weather conditions and rough terrain, the security forces continued their pursuit and successfully neutralized the second terrorist on the morning of September 13. They engaged in a fierce firefight throughout the night to accomplish this.

Persistent Threats along with security concerns

While Rajouri and Poonch were once considered relatively safe from militant activities, there has been a recent surge in terrorist incidents over the past few months. Notably, this encounter occurred shortly after another clash on September 4, where a terrorist was killed, and two security personnel were injured in Gali Sohab village, located in the Chassana area of Reasi district.

Thus, the Rajpuri and Poonch’s border areas have faced several encounters in this year itself. In total, it has led up to 26 terrorist deaths along with 10 security personnel. The majority of them were when they tried to cross the border region.

Wrap Up

The Rajouri encounter underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by this region. Kudos to the dedicated efforts of security forces who combat everyday threats from terrorists. It is a gentle reminder of the commitment to maintaining peace and stability in J&K.
