Mexico’s Fatima Bosch Crowned Miss Universe 2025 After Pageant Controversy – WATCH

Mexico’s Fatima Bosch claimed the Miss Universe 2025 crown, followed by Thailand’s Praveenar Singh, Venezuela’s Stephany Abasali, Philippines’ Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, and Cote d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yace as first through fourth runners-up respectively. The victory comes amid significant pageant controversy that nearly derailed the competition.

Fatima Bosch’s Controversial Victory

“Congratulations to our new Miss Universe. Tonight, a star was born. Her grace, strength, and radiant spirit captured the hearts of the world, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her as our new queen. The universe shines a little brighter with her leading the way,” read the official Miss Universe Instagram caption.

Bosch’s win follows her controversial walk-out from the pageant after Miss Universe Thailand National Director Nawat Itsaragrisil called her a “dumbhead” when she declined to promote Thailand—the host country—via her social media profiles. After attempting to explain her stance, Bosch walked out when the situation escalated, with other contestants following her lead.

Itsaragrisil subsequently stated, “If anyone wants to continue the contest, sit down,” before later apologizing for his remarks.

Champion’s Background

The 25-year-old fashion designer studied in the United States and Italy. Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD at a young age, Bosch never allowed these challenges to obstruct her ambitions.

Beyond fashion design, Bosch promotes sustainable style and became the first Miss Mexico from Tabasco dedicating her life to supporting children battling cancer. She hosts an annual toy drive during holiday seasons at the Oncology Hospital of Tabasco, according to Business Insider.

Substantial Prize Package

Fatima Bosch will receive $250,000 (approximately Rs 2.2 crore)—matching Miss Universe 2024’s prize amount—along with a $50,000 annual salary (roughly Rs 44 lakh) covering travel and brand initiatives. She also receives a New York City residence for her reign year.

The crown itself is valued at over $5 million (around Rs 44 crore). Bosch will retain the title until Miss Universe 2026 is crowned.

Historic Achievement

Fatima Bosch becomes the fourth Mexican to win Miss Universe, joining Lupita Jones (1991), Ximena Navarrete (2010), and Andrea Meza (2020) in this exclusive group.

Her victory demonstrates resilience both personally—overcoming learning challenges—and professionally, standing firm during pageant controversy while ultimately earning the crown.
