Anmol Bishnoi Deported from US, Arrested by NIA at Delhi Airport in Major Gang Crackdown

Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a key figure in multiple high-profile crimes, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency immediately after being deported from the United States and landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. He represents the 19th accused linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate to be apprehended.

Immediate Custody and Legal Proceedings

NIA teams were stationed at the airport ahead of Anmol’s arrival, completing arrest formalities on-site under tight security. He was subsequently taken to Delhi’s Patiala House court for legal proceedings.

Anmol Bishnoi’s Criminal Portfolio and Key Cases

Anmol, originally from Fazilka in Punjab, faces approximately 18 cases nationwide. Authorities are focusing on his alleged involvement in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s 2022 murder, NCP leader Baba Siddique’s 2024 killing, and the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence.

International Operations and Network

The NIA’s March 2023 chargesheet established Anmol’s role in providing active support to Lawrence Bishnoi and associate Goldy Brar in terror activities between 2020 and 2023. Operating from abroad, he allegedly ran a terror syndicate in India, issued instructions to shooters, organized shelter, weapons and logistics for ground operatives, and operated an extortion racket.

His criminal network spans Portugal, Italy, the United States, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Dubai. Syndicate members operate in specialized roles including providing international mobile numbers for WhatsApp and Signal, supplying VPN accounts, arranging safe houses for fugitives, and procuring illegal weapons and ammunition. The network also involves drug supply, identifying and training sharpshooters, laundering crime proceeds, preparing fake identification documents, and recruiting local minors.

Extradition Process

Anmol Bishnoi is suspected of fleeing on a fake passport after Moose Wala’s killing in 2022. He was arrested in the US last year for allegedly traveling with fraudulent documents. His asylum application was rejected by a US court last week.

India formally requested extradition in January 2024 following the NIA’s 2023 chargesheet. The NIA announced a ₹10 lakh bounty for his capture.

The arrest forms part of NIA’s ongoing investigation in case RC 39/2022, focused on dismantling connections between gangsters, terrorists, and arms traffickers. Anmol is among 200 Indian nationals, including two fugitives wanted in Punjab, being deported by the United States.
