LPU’s Grand Cultural Event Inaugurated by Kejriwal and Mann

Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann graced Lovely Professional University’s annual cultural extravaganza, One India-2025, as chief guests. This year, the festival embraced the theme Gatha-e-Bharat: Narratives of Monuments and History, celebrating the unity and diversity of India through a vibrant display of folk dances, music, traditional attire, and regional cuisines. Students from over 28 states and eight union territories came together to present India’s rich heritage on a single platform.

Thousands of attendees witnessed a lively procession of tableaus representing each region’s unique cultural identity. Punjab’s energetic Bhangra, Rajasthan’s Ghoomar, Assam’s Bihu, Kerala’s Mohiniyattam, Gujarat’s Garba, and folk dances from Uttar Pradesh created an electrifying atmosphere, reflecting both dedication and passion. Traditional stalls and exhibitions showcased handicrafts, jewelry, and artworks, while a special culinary corner allowed students to prepare and serve dishes from across India, including Bengal’s Rasgulla, Hyderabad’s Biryani, Gujarat’s Dhokla, and South Indian favorites like Dosa and Idli.

During the event, Kejriwal described the festival as “a magnificent celebration of India’s unity” and emphasized the role of youth in preserving and respecting the country’s cultural diversity. He said, “India’s real strength lies in its diversity. When youth from different states, languages, and cultures come together and stand on one platform, it shows that we are all one.” He encouraged students to value their own traditions while embracing and learning about others.

Chief Minister Mann highlighted the state government’s focus on education and youth development. “Our objective is not just to give degrees, but to make youth cultured, talented, and patriotic citizens. Institutions like Lovely Professional University are doing remarkable work in this direction,” he said. He also noted that special initiatives are being introduced to promote cultural and creative activities in universities and colleges across Punjab.

LPU Chancellor Ashok Kumar Mittal welcomed the dignitaries and praised the event’s scale and significance. He said that One India-2025 had grown into a platform fostering inclusivity, understanding, and appreciation among students. “Our objective is to provide students with a platform where they not only showcase their culture but also understand and appreciate others’ cultures,” he remarked. The festival brought together over 50,000 students, teachers, and guests, reflecting the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

The celebration also recognized the achievements of LPU athletes, particularly those who excelled at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Sumit, Mona Aggarwal, Pooja Ojha, Yash Kumar, Sandeep, Sandip Sargar, and Rohit Kumar were felicitated with a total prize money of 42 lakh rupees for their exceptional performance, while Alka Awasthi was honored for her exemplary contributions to the NSS and social service.

Kejriwal lauded the university and its leadership, saying, “Punjab’s youth is India’s future. Nurturing their talent and helping them progress is our biggest responsibility. The energy and enthusiasm I witnessed here today assures me that India’s future is bright.” He urged students to remain conscious of their responsibilities toward society and the nation while pursuing their individual goals.

The festival reinforced LPU’s position as a national-level hub for cultural exchange, celebrating India’s diversity while promoting national unity, social harmony, and pride among the youth. The presence of both Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann added immense significance to the occasion, inspiring students to embrace their heritage and contribute actively to the country’s progress.
