Amazon Introduces ‘Add to Delivery’ Feature for Prime Members in US

Amazon has launched a new convenience feature for Prime members called “Add to Delivery,” enabling customers to add items to existing orders before they ship, eliminating the need to create separate purchases for forgotten items.

Amazon introduces new ‘Add to Cart’ feature

The service allows users to include additional products in already-scheduled deliveries through the Amazon app or mobile website. Eligible items display a blue “Add to Delivery” button below the standard yellow “Add to Cart” option on product detail pages. Tapping this button instantly adds the item to an upcoming delivery, with an undo option available for accidental selections.

Currently available exclusively to US Prime members, the feature covers specific categories including electronics, clothing, books, and groceries. It applies to same-day or next-day deliveries depending on availability, with no additional shipping charges for added items.

Testing and Rollout

Amazon tested the feature with select Prime members before beginning broader deployment.

The company designed the service to align with actual shopping behavior, allowing customers to respond to immediate needs without waiting for their next order or completing a new checkout process.

Access requires an active Amazon Prime membership, priced at $14.99 monthly or $139 annually in the US. The feature addresses a common frustration among online shoppers who forget items and must restart the entire ordering process.

Traditional Shopping Challenge

Previously, the customers had to create entirely new orders to purchase additional items after completing a transaction.

The new system streamlines this process, enabling multiple items to arrive in a single shipment even if remembered after the initial purchase.

International Expansion Unknown

Amazon has not announced plans to extend the feature to other markets, including India, where similar convenience options could appeal to frequent online shoppers.

The timeline for potential international rollout remains undisclosed.

The feature represents Amazon’s ongoing effort to reduce friction in the shopping experience while potentially increasing order values. By making it easier to add forgotten items, the company may capture sales that might otherwise go to competitors or be postponed.

The initiative reflects Amazon’s focus on enhancing Prime membership value through exclusive convenience features that differentiate the subscription service from standard e-commerce options.
