‘Bihar Krishi Radio’: Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha Launches AI-Powered Farm Radio to Boost Agriculture

The Government of Bihar today launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based agriculture radio broadcasting system aimed at delivering real-time, accurate information to farmers across the state. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Vijay Kumar Sinha, inaugurated the groundbreaking initiative at the Krishi Bhawan Media Centre in Patna.

Bihar Govt. launches AI-Powered Farm Radio

The new system includes the launch of the digital radio service, “Bihar Krishi Radio,” available for download on both the Play Store and App Store. The service is designed to be a critical tool for farmers, providing essential information on weather forecasts, crop disease management, agricultural schemes, market prices, and mandi (market) conditions. Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Mr. Pankaj Kumar, was also present at the launch event.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the transformative potential of the technology, stating that the merger of “Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence can bring about a new revolution in agricultural technology.” He added that the service would not only help farmers increase their income but also enhance their capacity to tackle challenges like climate change.

The core of the system is its AI-based analysis, which studies data related to weather, soil, and markets to provide swift, tailored information. The radio service is available 24×7 and features an interactive facility that allows farmers to get answers to their queries directly from the AI system.

Key Benefits and Accessibility

Mr. Sinha reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging modern technology, aligning with the “vision of the Honourable Prime Minister and the guidance of the Honourable Chief Minister.” The quotes from his address highlight the immediate benefits to the farming community: “Bihar Krishi Radio” will provide quick and accurate information to farmers. “Weather forecasts, pest-disease management, and market price information will now reach farmers directly.”

The radio service is being offered in regional languages to ensure easy understanding and accessibility for local farmers. Officials believe this system will usher in an information revolution by providing timely weather alerts to secure crops, quick advice on pest and disease control to minimize losses, and updated market prices to help farmers secure better value for their produce.

Mr. Sinha expressed confidence that the initiative would play a vital role in connecting farmers with modern technology, increasing their yield, and making agriculture more profitable. The event was also attended by the Director of the Agriculture Department, Mr. Nitin Kumar Singh, and the Director of Horticulture, Mr. Abhishek Kumar, among other officials.
