Infosys Expands Into Mohali With New Campus Bringing 2,500 Jobs To Punjab

Punjab is set to witness a major boost in its information technology sector as Infosys Limited confirmed plans to expand its presence in Mohali with an investment of nearly ₹300 crore. The project promises to generate around 2,500 direct jobs and more than 200 indirect opportunities, creating a wave of fresh possibilities for the state’s youth while also strengthening its economy.

Sharing the news, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora explained that Infosys has been running operations in Mohali since 2017, employing close to 900 professionals. With this expansion, the company will scale up its work, ensuring more jobs for local talent and reinforcing Punjab as a preferred industrial and technological destination. He highlighted that the move reflects the government’s commitment to encouraging industries that prioritize sustainable development alongside growth.

The first stage of the project will cover three lakh square feet with state-of-the-art offices and supporting buildings. Designed with sustainability in mind, the new infrastructure will be awarded the prestigious LEED Platinum certification for green buildings. Construction is scheduled to begin on November 5, Gurpurab, and is expected to take three years to complete after all approvals are secured. This marks a significant moment for Punjab as the state ties its growth story with eco-friendly and modern infrastructure.

Following the first stage, a second expansion across 4.8 lakh square feet will take shape over the next five years. This phase will only move forward once the initial one is completed and all clearances are in place. Such a phased approach ensures transparency, accountability, and lasting benefits for the region. Once both phases are finished, Mohali is expected to rise as a leading IT hub in northern India, creating opportunities not just for Punjab but for surrounding states as well.

Infosys officials extended their appreciation to the Punjab Government, Invest Punjab, and GMADA for facilitating the project. They assured full commitment to completing the development on schedule. According to the company, the project will empower Punjab’s youth to compete globally and further elevate the state’s status in technology and services.

At the official press briefing, key figures including Amit Dhaka, CEO of Invest Punjab, Seema Bansal, Vice Chairperson of the Punjab Development Council, Amol Ramesh Kulkarni, Regional Head (Infrastructure) of Infosys, and Dr. Sameer Goyal, Head of Branch Development Centre, Infosys, were in attendance. Their participation underlined the strong collaboration between the government and the private sector.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administration celebrated the announcement as more than an investment—it was presented as proof of Punjab’s transformation into a self-reliant and progressive state. “The Mann Government has secured yet another major achievement in Punjab’s journey of development,” officials said, calling the initiative a milestone in the creation of a truly ‘Rangla Punjab.’
