Donald Trump Pulls Back Secret Service Security For Kamala Harris

A senior official revealed that Kamala Harris had her security detail extended for a year by President Joe Biden before he left office in January 2025. That arrangement was scheduled to last until January 2026.

Normally, former vice presidents are entitled to only six months of Secret Service coverage once their term ends, according to Reuters.

CNN obtained a letter addressed to Harris, stating that her additional protection will end on September 1, 2025. The message instructed officials to halt any security measures beyond the standard requirements of law.

Kirsten Allen, one of Harris’s senior advisers, said that Harris expressed her gratitude to the Secret Service for their dedication and professionalism.

This decision comes just weeks before Harris is set to begin a nationwide promotional tour for her upcoming memoir 107 Days, scheduled for release on September 23. The book recounts her short presidential run after President Biden stepped aside during the last election, when Harris ultimately lost to Donald Trump.
