British singer and songwriter Rita Ora paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Liam Payne at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) 2024. The ceremony, held on Sunday, November 10th in Manchester, England, saw Ora becoming visibly emotional as she honoured the former One Direction member.

In a poignant moment captured on video, Rita Ora addressed the audience, saying, “I just wanted to take a moment to remember someone that was very, very dear to us. We lost him recently, and he was a big part of the MTV world, and my world, and I think a lot of yours at home and everybody in here tonight.”

Ora continued, her voice filled with emotion, “Liam Payne was one of the kindest people I knew. There were so many ways that we were talking about honouring him and I sometimes think, just simply speaking, is enough. He had the biggest heart and was always the first person to offer help in any way he could. He brought so much joy to every room he walked into. He left such a mark in this world.”

Liam Payne’s death

Liam Payne tragically passed away in Buenos Aires after a fall from the third floor of a hotel, as reported by local media. The news of his untimely demise was confirmed on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024. The 31-year-old singer was found lifeless in the courtyard of the hotel in the Palermo district.
