The film, which has already amassed an impressive ₹250 crore at the box office, marks another milestone in director T.J. Gnanavel’s career after his acclaimed “Jai Bhim.”

The streaming rights have reportedly been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a whopping ₹90 crore, offering fans who missed the theatrical experience a chance to witness the Superstar’s latest avatar from the comfort of their homes. The timing of the digital release, coinciding with the post-Diwali period, strategically targets peak streaming season for Tamil cinema enthusiasts.
“Vettaiyan” showcases Rajinikanth as Athiyan, a character caught in the moral crossroads of law enforcement and justice. Gnanavel, known for his socially conscious storytelling, explores the controversial territory of police encounters while examining the thin line between duty and vigilantism. The director has even hinted at a possible prequel focusing on Athiyan’s origin story.
