X Offers Premium Subscription at ₹89 for New Indian Users in Anniversary Promotion

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has launched a limited-time promotional offer allowing new Indian subscribers to access its Premium service for ₹89 during their first month, marking the third anniversary of the subscription tier’s introduction following Musk’s Twitter acquisition.

Promotional Pricing Structure

The discounted rate represents a significant reduction from standard pricing: ₹427 per month on desktop and ₹470 via mobile platforms. The Premium Plus tier is available for ₹890 during the promotional period, compared to its regular ₹2,570 monthly cost.

Platform X messaging states: “Get Premium for 89 in your first month” and “It’s Premium’s 3rd birthday! Enjoy our anniversary offer.”

Eligibility and Subscription Process

The offer exclusively targets new subscribers who have never previously paid for Premium. Existing members cannot access the promotional pricing. After the initial month, subscriptions automatically renew at standard rates.

To subscribe, users must log into their X account, navigate to their profile icon, and select “Premium” from the sidebar. Payment options include credit cards, debit cards, UPI, or app store purchases for mobile subscriptions.

X Premium Features

X Premium provides multiple enhanced capabilities for subscribers. Content creators gain monetization opportunities, with X paying users whose posts achieve substantial reach, similar to YouTube’s model.

Additional features include video downloads, community creation tools, text formatting options (bold and italics), bookmark organization folders, customizable app icons, and increased Grok AI chatbot usage limits.

The verified blue checkmark accompanies Premium subscriptions, alongside increased post visibility, post-editing capabilities after publishing, longer video uploads than free users, and the ability to undo posts within specific timeframes.

Content and Advertising

Premium subscribers can share content up to 25,000 characters, targeting creators and users sharing in-depth material. While Premium users encounter fewer advertisements than free or basic tier users, X clarifies the experience is not completely ad-free. Those seeking fully ad-free timelines must subscribe to Premium Plus.

Strategic Expansion

The promotional offer represents X’s efforts to expand its subscriber base in India, a significant market for social media platforms. The anniversary timing leverages the platform’s evolution since Musk’s 2022 acquisition, when Twitter was rebranded and monetization features were introduced.

The limited-period nature creates urgency for potential subscribers considering premium features while maintaining standard pricing for renewals.
