Virat Kohli Praises Shakib Al Hasan’s Bowling Skills Ahead of World Cup Clash

Virat Kohli’s Perspective on ICC World Cup

Indian Cricket Team Captain Virat Kohli is geared up for the ICC World Cup. He emphasized that there are no “big teams” in the tournament. Kohli has been part of every World Cup since 2011 and is determined to end India’s ICC trophy drought. India’s last ICC title win was in 2013.

Virat Kohli’s World Cup Journey

The 34-year-old Kohli was part of India’s victorious 2011 World Cup. During that time, the squad was under the leadership of MS Dhoni. In 2019 he led India to the semi-finals of the World Cup. Now, with Rohit Sharma as captain, Kohli aims to guide India to World Cup glory. India has performed impressively in the 2023 World Cup. As of now, India has won three matches in the round-robin phase.

Praising Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan

Ahead of the match against Bangladesh, Kohli praised Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan. Kohli has played against Shakib many times and commended his exceptional control as a bowler. Kohli highlighted Shakib’s effectiveness with the new ball, his ability to deceive batsmen, and his economical bowling.

Respect Between Rivals

In return, Shakib praised Kohli as the best batter in the modern era, showing mutual respect between the two star players. Kohli emphasized the need to perform at one’s best against bowlers like Shakib, as they can create pressure and increase the chances of getting a batter out.

No Big Teams in the World Cup

Kohli also emphasized the absence of “big teams” in the World Cup. He pointed out that focusing only on well-known teams can lead to upsets by underdog teams. He cited examples of Afghanistan defeating England and the Netherlands securing a famous victory over South Africa in the current World Cup.
